(Match is almost to its conclusion)
Jennings: GHW viewers, you’re witnessing a barn-burner here tonight as Unknown Soldier is valiantly defending his Colonel Championship against his arch-nemesis, The Angel of Darkness, inside this unforgiving steel cage in front of us. Wouldn’t you consider this match a classic way to start off the new GHW era on pay-per-view, Al?
Mulligan: Those that didn’t order Dawn of Destruction are missing a hell of a fight, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves and say that Unknown Soldier is valiantly defending his Title. AoD is still in this one, and according to tonight’s rules, the winner only has to escape the cage.
Jennings: That’s absolutely correct, folks. There are no pinfalls or submissions allowed tonight. Simply put, the Superstar who gets both of his feet to touch the surrounding area outside of the cage will be crowned the Colonel Champion. Let’s get back to the action!
Unknown Soldier has his back to the turnbuckle as AoD unleashes fist after fist, chipping away at US’ noggin. US tries to get his hands up to protect, but AoD grabs them and irish-whips the Colonel Champion to the other turnbuckle across the ring. AoD capitalizes and lunges forward at the waiting Superstar with a spear. The blow sends US’ mid-section deep into the turnbuckle, hitting the pole holding it up. Hunched over, US is grabbed by his masked head and led to the center of the ring. AoD puts his opponents head under his arm, and hooks the arm. AoD then collapses with all his weight, slamming US into the mat with a devastating DDT.
Jennings: That’s gotta hurt. AoD needs to get out of this cage while the picking is ripe.
Mulligan: He’s making sure that there is NO way that Unknown Soldier gets up when he attempts to get out of dodge. There’s one thing about escaping a cage quickly to get a win, but there’s another about dealing some damage before doing it. AoD wants nothing more than to hurt US and then take his Title.
Jennings: We’ll see about that. US never gives up, and he’s never lost to AoD.
AoD stands, looks at his damaged opponent, and then grins wryly. He turns to hear the booing fans and begins to make his way to the cage door. The referee opens it for him to exit, but AoD shakes his head and points to the ceiling.
Jennings: AoD doesn’t want the easy way out. It looks like he’s going to climb the cage.
Mulligan: I hope he knows what he’s doing. Showboating isn’t going to win this for him, but I have confidence that he has enough time to get out the hard way.
AoD begins to climb the steel cage, looking down at US in his slow ascent with a proud smile. US begins to stir from the abuse he’s taken in this match, but AoD doesn’t seem to care. Slowly but surely, US gets to his knees, then realizes that AoD is no where in sight, and finds him perched above on the cage. US uses his reserve energy to get to his feet and begin a climb after AoD. AoD sees the development, and quickens his scale. AoD reaches the top, and then awkwardly attempts to get over it to climb down the other side. The misstep in his calculation gives US time to catch up and the two men are nearly together, with US on the inside top of the cage and AoD on the outside. AoD tries to punch at US, but US wisely dodges and moves to the side of him. AoD attempts to push US back into the ring but US persists.
Jennings: Come on, Soldier, keep him from falling!
Mulligan: AoD has the momentum here, he just needs to make the one move to end US for good.
US somehow manages to get the upperhand and lands a few strong punches into AoD. He hooks AoD’s head and with all the might left in his body, flips him upright and the two Colonel Superstars fly through the air back into the ring.
Jennings: HOLY SHITAKE MUSHROOMS! That was the greatest suplex in a cage match that I’ve seen in forever. How did US manage to pull that off?
Mulligan: That hurt more than it helped. He may have saved his Title for now, but the pain he’s got to be in is not gonna get him much farther.
Jennings: What about AoD? He’s laying there motionless too! Wait, what the hell…?
Out from backstage and onto the ramp emerges Petre Bouchard. Dressed in a white suit with black pin stripes, Petre makes his way down to the ring, and the crowd does not really know how to greet him. Confusion echoes from their faces as he rounds the corner towards the steel cage door.
Jennings: What the hell is Petre Bouchard doing out here?
Mulligan: Who?
Jennings: Petre Bouchard! He’s the guy who met up with AoD on Monday Night Combat just this week in that awkward locker room vignette. Things didn’t really go that well between the two, but what business does he have here tonight at Dawn of Destruction? I don’t like the smell of this.
Mulligan: I don’t smell a damn thing to be honest, but man does that guy need a new wardrobe assistant.
Jennings: The ref outside the ring needs to control this before it gets out of hand. I don’t want to see one of these Superstars get screwed out of a Title.
Mulligan: He sure as hell better not screw AoD, I’ll tell you that!
Petre is confronted by the ref by the cage door who tells him to get out of the area and go backstage. Petre puts his arms up in defense and sidesteps the ref to go towards the announce table. The ref allows him to pass, and Petre slyly continues on his way. Then, as the ref turns his back, Petre ducks under the apron and pulls out some sort of object.
Jennings: What’s he got there? It looks like a stick of some sort with metal around it.
Mulligan: Looks like barbed-wire if you ask me.
Jennings: That’s a cut-off hockey stick! The heck is he gonna do…
Petre makes a 180 turn and charges with his new gadget at the referee. The ref tries to get out of the way but is smacked with the cut-off barbed-wire hockey stick and collapses to the floor.
Jennings: My GOD! He just took out the ref! Somebody get some order around here!
Mulligan: He just gave a new meaning to the term, slap shot!
Petre now begins to work on the cage door lock having grabbed the keys from the fallen ref. After dismantling it, he opens the door and enters the ring. Both Unknown Soldier and AoD begin stirring, trying to recuperate from their last bump. AoD is the first to see Petre in the ring, and his eyes immediately widen in fear. Not being able to defend himself, he raises an arm in plea. Unknown Soldier then sees the new intruder and doesn’t know what to make of him or his ugly choice of threads. Petre threateningly nears US and points for him to finish AoD. US shakes his head in confusion, but Petre persists, raising his weapon at the Colonel Champ. AoD takes advantage of the situation and tries to lunge toward US. US dodges the attempt and kicks AoD in the gut. AoD lurches forward from the blow and US sets up and lifts him high in the air and slams him to the mat with a powerbomb. US stops, turns to Petre, who smiles broadly. Petre then points to the top corner of the cage and motions his elbow.
Jennings: Petre wants US to drop an elbow from the top of the cage onto AoD? What kind of sick man is he?
Mulligan: Maybe AoD should have listened to him on Monday!
Jennings: I don’t think US has any choice in this matter. Petre’s got the weapon.
Unknown Soldier shakes his head, but Petre raises the barbed-wire hockey stick in threat. US then reluctantly obeys Petre’s command and begins to climb the turnbuckle. As he turns his back, Petre lunges forward and nails US in the back of the head with the deranged weapon. US topples down onto the mat with his arms around the back of his head in pain.
Jennings: WHAT! Petre just two-timed Unknown Soldier with a cheap shot!
Mulligan: Classic! Keep pounding on him, Petre!
Petre does just that as he begins slamming his weapon into the fallen Soldier who cannot protect himself. The flesh on US’ back and right arm rips open with small lacerations. Blood begins to drip and flow. Petre, seeing that the damage is done, stops his attack and looks back at AoD, who still lies in pain from US’ finishing maneuver. Petre throws his weapon toward the cage door, and then begins to drag AoD towards it. US, meanwhile, lies motionless in a puddle of his own blood.
Jennings: This can’t be happening. This is a travesty! Unknown Soldier can’t lose this way.
Mulligan: Looks like we know who Petre is backing now. He’s about to do something for AoD that AoD has not been able to accomplish for months. Heck, half a year. Heck, ever! He’s going to clinch a victory over Unknown Soldier for AoD!
Jennings: Disgusting! This isn’t the way to end a match like this.
Petre manages to finally drag AoD all the way to the door, and eventually pulls him through it. AoD falls to the outside mat and Petre motions for the time keeper to ring the bell.
DING DING DING DING!
Petre then grabs his weapon and walks over to the announce table. He snatches the ring announcer’s mic from him violently.
“Excusez-moi, excusez-moi! Ignorant fans, let me please introduce you to the new Colonel Champion of the World, The Angel of Darkness…L'Ange D'obscurité !!”
Petre throws the mic back at the announcer and grabs the Colonel Championship belt. He then walks over to the new Champion, who is still dazed from what happened. AoD makes it to his feet slowly, and Petre puts his arm around his neck to help him exit while clutching the gold prize and his innovative weapon.
Jennings: I have no words ladies and gentlemen. I apologize for what you have just witnessed. Somebody please lift this cage and get help for Unknown Soldier. I beg that this disaster ends, and the real Champ can get the attention he needs from the medics.
Mulligan: All I gotta say is Viva la France…or is it Quebec?
