Now I asked Eddie if I could post some tips for those of you who want to RP right away and seeing as how I'm a seasoned veteran. He kindly agreed. So what your about to read are "The 10 Commandments or Wrestling" (If your a fellow Jew don't take it to the heart) which I compiled just recently to help those who are new to RPing to become an expert.
1. STAY IN CHARACTER
if you character is meant to be used as a small and quick Rey Mysterio type of person and someone decides to come out during your talking-time,please don't say something like your character picks him up in the air and choke slams him, it makes it unrealistic. and visa versa for a big show type character.
2. ANNOUNCERS ARE IMPORTANT
If you've ever watched a real WWE show, during fights, matches, etc. You'll hear announcers commentating on whats happening, why not use them in your RP to bring it to life? Also, unless you haven't been to a live T.V. event, you'd notice that you can't hear the announcers. NEITHER CAN THE Fighty fighty personS! So if an announcer says something your character doesn't like, he probably can't hear it anyway!
3. UNPREDICTABILITY
Try to mix it up. When you RP do something that people wont expect, if we wanted to see or hear something that we already know was gonna happen, we wouldn't RP on feds. This doesn't mean randomly attacking the other "superstars/ Fighty fighty persons" either, just try to keep it original.
4. LENGTH
Never make an RP if its only gonna 7 or less lines long, then, it's just uninteresting, the ONLY exception is if two people are having a conversation. Also never ramble on and on and on about the same thing to make your RP longer and you think it will impress people. They will just get bored and stop reading your RP. If you have troubles making it long, make sure you describe everything your wrestling can see and hear withing head shot.
5. SWEARING AND PUNCTUATION
If you've ever seen a wrestling televised show you wont see them standing in-ring yelling out a curse word with every sentence. It's just not realistic. Also, every time you want the reader to pause in what they're reading, put a comma(,) and if you want your Fighty fighty person to pause in what he's saying use only and i mean ONLY 3 periods (...). Do not try to lengthen your RP by using .................. to show a pause it makes it unprofessional and makes you seem like you eat paint for breakfast.
6. GO FOR WHAT YOU ARE
If your a technical Fighty fighty person use submissions and snap pin moves to wear down you opponents. If your Aerial don't rely on brute strength instead use high flying maneuvers. If your Dirty hit your opponent in the head with a chair when the ref isn't looking, or strike a cheap shot at any given moment. If your traditional or New Breed rely on everything possible to have you with the match just make sure it's in your strength and opponent weight range, although New Breeds should normally have a larger range of moves.
7. USE PROPER VOCABULARY
I cannot stress how much this is needed. Make sure you use spell check every time after you post or else it may make it seem hard to read. Two or three mistakes is fine, just try not to make you post shorter by doing stupid text messaging tricks. Ie) "u", "brudah", "bc", "ppl", or "nvm" {Those are fine for OOC, though}. Also if you want to call somebody an idiot multiple times but don't have any other words, please use a Thesaurus.
8. ROLE PLAY BOARD IS FOR ROLE PLAYERS ONLY
Areas like "The Ring", "Locker Room", and "Backstage" are for in character Fighty fighty persons only. After your done posting and put a "OOC" at the bottom is fine, just make sure you label it properly. If you have anything random you want to talk about like "WWE", "DX", "ROH", or "Turkeys" please post them in the OOC board, because if you don't you seem like a oaf.
9. NO POWER POSING
This is pretty much for VOW users. If your a LAW please don't make a post in the ring about man handling a SSWO for two reasons. One, you'll seem like a retard. Two, it's ignorant and stupid unless you've had a match with them and in fact beat them.
10. DO NOT TAKE THE RP'S SERIOUSLY
Remember ladies and gentleman, this is staged. Just like the real WWE, TNA, or ECW, all of the story lines are staged and are not meant to hurt anybody emotionally, it's simply for entertainments sake. If somebody says "I'm going to beat you at the next PPV" don't lash out and call him a prick OOC, just respond like your Fighty fighty person would.
This was all I could think of at the moment and more Commandments may be added at a later time.
