The scene opens in an office building somewhere in London. It could be any other office, full of cubicles housing men and women that could be working in any other office. As the camera curiously makes its way down one of the aisles between the cubicles, the monotonous, overlapping sounds of keystrokes can be heard, mixed in with the murmur of mundane chatter and the occasional hum of a photocopier or printer.
When it reaches the end of the aisle, the camera turns into the final cubicle where a man is sitting with his back to the invisible presence, engaged in a conversation with somebody on the phone. As the camera creeps closer to him, we begin to eavesdrop on his conversation.
“Yeah me too ... well I’m full of surprises ... really? ... Well, I finish off at six tonight ... Haha ...”
Apparently disinterested with his conversation, the camera sweeps downward to take a look at the man’s desk. Other than an assortment of pens, pencils and other stationary, the thing that stands out the most is a famed picture of a pretty brunette girl sitting on a bench next to a river bank. Presumably the man’s girlfriend.
After inspecting his desk, the camera pans back up to the level of his head and continues to listen to his conversation.
“OK ... I’ll see you then ... love you too”
The man puts the phone down then swivels around on his chair to face the camera and reveal himself as none other than “The Pureblood” Skull who had not been seen since he retired from GHW in October. He is barely recognisable as the one time GHW World Champion. His once long and matted hair is now cut short into a modest cropped style. With the absence of stage makeup, his usually pale and gaunt face now appears fuller and more colourful. The face that would at one time seem out of place in a shirt and tie now bares the appearance of one you would pass in the street and not take a second glance at.
Before the camera can explore his new appearance any more, another man appears in the doorway of the cubicle and addresses the former GHW superstar.
“Hey can you finish up those client files and e-mail them me? The boss wants me to look them over.”
The man formerly known as Skull responds to his colleague’s request, his voice devoid of its usual sarcastic and condescending tone.
“Yeah sure, I’ll get them to you by the end of the day”
“Alright, nice one mate.”
With that, the other man leaves the cubicle and Skull spins back around in his chair and begins typing something into his computer. Faced once again with the back of his head, the camera turns around and exits the cubicle. As soon as it does, the mosaic of keystrokes and chatter returns as it retraces its steps down the aisle, leaving the seemingly happy Skull to his new life.
