Backstage at Tuesday Night Triumph, Skull is seen in his locker room, preparing for the night’s main event. The room is scattered with various odd artefacts including a trash can full of wind up chattering teeth, a wooden ventriloquist’s dummy, lying face down on the bench next to Skull and an antique looking cuckoo clock on the wall. Next to the clock on a long wooden shelf, a menagerie of even weirder objects are stored. In amongst these are a blue tin, about the size of a tin of soup which red ‘Monster Blood: Surprising Miracle Substance. Next to this are two small glass bottles full of an unknown liquid and marked ‘Vampire Breath’ and ‘Werewolf Sweat.’ Further along the shelf is a grotesque looking mask, a collecting of Goosebumps books and a DVD of the TV series.
As though there is nothing strange about these surrounding at all, Skull begins to change into his ring gear. In an attempt at multitasking he is trying to pull a knee pad on while simultaneously watching a monitor in the corner of the room but doing a bad job of both. He eventually gives up on the knee pad and turns his head to the monitor which appears to be showing a live stream of the broadcast. As the camera zooms in it becomes apparent the monitor is showing the match between The Proeliator and Darth That Guy that has just started. The Pureblood watches the match intently for around 30 seconds before turning his head away and looking down at the knee pad around his ankle. He pulls it up to his knee and just as it is in place he is startled by a knock on the door.
The door opens and Charlie Coors bursts in with a cameraman at his tail.
Coors: Skull, can you give me a few words about your match tonight? You are set to face Santo Mascaras in the main event in a match that is sure to have New Age Championship implications. How do you feel about this?
Skull looks up with a slightly confused expression on his face. He had not given consent for an interview or for Charlie to come into his locker room. But nevertheless he was happy for a chance to voice his thoughts.
“Santo Mascaras. The NeXuS runner up. So according to the NeXuS rankings does that make him the #1 contender? If so, does that make this a #1 contender’s match? And in theory, if I beat him, does that make me the #1 contender? Either way, I won’t be getting a title shot at Red, White & Bruised. Or I’d be double booked.”
A smirk spreads across his face as he finishes the statement and for a fleeting second, he takes a glance at the monitor out of the corner of his eye.
“I’ve been around in GHW forever. I’m a Hall of Famer. I’ve been in the Main Event. I’ve been a World Champion, twice. But notice the past tense. Been. I’ve fluctuated in and out of main event status but I’ve never managed to maintain that grip, never had that one big win to set my position in stone. However, beating Santo Mascaras would quite possibly be the biggest win of my career. Now I know what you’re thinking. He’s just a rookie, right? Well he almost won the World title and if the man behind the mask is who I think he is, then... But I won’t say anything until I’m sure.”
“So what about The Proeliator’s challenge? Himself and Metal Dragon vs Yourself and a mystery partner. I assume you’re accepting it.”
“Of course I am.”
“And your partner?”
“Well that would be telling. I’ve made a few calls and I’m always open to new offers. But this will be the closest thing I’ve had to a one on one match with Dragon. I know I can take Pro, I just need someone to neutralize Dragon and I got my eye on one or two people. Or five. Or six. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got some preparation to do. Unless you want me to buy a Charlie Coors action figure? No, I didn’t think so.”
