GHW.com brings you a special presentation of the Fight Without Honor match from GHW's NeXuS Pay-Per-View.
This hallowed match brought an abrupt end to the career of GHW's Jake Diamond.
...Enraged, Jake clenches his fists and slams them down against the canvas, blown away that his fury and effort has gone unnoticed. That is, until, the most obvious thought creeps into his mind. Taking shape in his head Jake simply allows the typical cynical grin take place on his face before pushing himself up to his feet and taking a step back. Sizing up the Asian Sensation, the Blood Diamond simply points his hand forward in the shape of a pistol at the back of NVX's head, aiming in for a Coup De Mort on his foe. In what must be the signal for all Hell to break loose, suddenly Kryptops and Solstice decide to make their presence felt. With both a bat and a sickle aimed for him, Jake decides to take the road less traveled and turns to receive a solid shot to the ribcage from the barbed wired aluminum bat. However, just as Solstice decides to summon the energy of Rurouni the duo of Greenspark and Jerry Nate infiltrate the ring as well, turning this into an all-out warfare. With the Pantera belt buckle wrapped tightly around his fist, Jerry Nate slams the buckle into the side of Solstice's head, sending the man rolling out of the ring with his sickle as Greenspark simply blocks a shot of Krytops' bat and sends the man back to the outside, hurtling over the top rope, all the while as Jake lies squirming on the canvas.
In the midst of the chaos unfolding before him, NVX manages to crawl up to his feet and lower his body, looking to take out one of Jake's mercenaries. With Greenspark being the first unfortunate victim, the forerunner of the match charges forward, hammering his shoulder into the six-foot-seven behemoth's midsection with his patented Wolf Fang spear. Then, making sure to get up to his feet before Jerry could react, the agile Asian quickly charges at the Nebraska native and connects with a second consecutive spear. In most cases that would secure NVX's safety yet, unfortunately for him, the funnel effect continues into the ring as he walks directly into a thrust kick from Alex Night. Leveling the other star of the match with his finisher, the Crybaby is taken entirely off guard as another massive beast from EVPW, in the form of Paul Slaughter immediately grabs the man by the throat as he enters the ring. Aware of the fact that Spike Steel and Chris Pyro are charging at him head-on he makes sure that Night's descent to the canvas with the chokeslam is a bumpy one, dropping the Night Light with ease. Almost as soon as he drops Alex, Paul succumbs to a similar fate himself. Without hesitation both Spike and Pyro simultaneously boot the large man in the stomach before grappling him in a front facelock. As the hornets nest continues to get rocked, this time summoning Shawn Dreamer and TPK to the ring, Spike Steel and Chris Pyro decide to finish their obligation and connects with a massive double DDT to take out Paul Slaughter. In almost the same fluent motion of bodies collapsing and more filling the ring both TPK winds back his precious waffle maker and Dreamer cocks his leg up before Steel gets his face smashed in with Priscilla and Pyro suffers from one of the tag team champs dreaded super kicks.
The ring area was crowded in semi-knocked out bodies while the ring itself was slowly becoming a dojo in itself; there was literally no stop to the madness.
"This has become an all-out battleground. It's not Jake and NVX anymore, ladies and gentlemen prepare for GHW versus EVPW."
"One after another EVPW is falling! Jake had the match in his hands but once again was cheated out of the victory!"
"Honestly, it just matters if one side or another can gain the upper hand. If one GHW guy can stay in the ring that much longer than another EVPW guy they've solidified this match for their warrior..."
Standing among the wreckage like the two uncrowned kings of all the madness, their reign doesn't last for long. Having his presence felt only limitedly in the match at this point, Barta Bull apparently decides that, given if he was a transformer, he would be a freight train. Blindsiding TPK from the side, Barta charges forward and blasts the man and his lovely wife with his car door sending the man flying high and far out of the ring. Unfortunately for Dreamer, he doesn't prove to be as lucky while trying to evade, and is clipped by the door as Barta spins around sending the man tumbling out of the ring as well. As the clanking and and clinging of the car door seemed to finish off and entire fleet wanted a piece of the party. Coming in from the top, Grockadoc seems poised for action that would be, of course, until the neutral parties decided to intercept the two behemoths. Nearly coming at a violent head-to-head collision, both Ryan Hughes and AJ Scally, doing as good of a job as expected, attempt to restore any sort of order left. Holding off the two men from battling and ordering them to leave to the ringside, Hughes and Scally seem to be ready to have their own careers ended before running into some unexpected help, sort of. Deciding to intervene themselves Jake's disciples explode onto the scene, looking for heads. Both targeting Scally and Hughes respectively, Beast and Kabul target for a series of their own finishers but hit the unsuspecting opponent's of Grockadoc and Barta with a B Line and Chainsaw Kick as the two police forces dodge out of the way. Having decapitating your opponent being one way to take down the big men from either side, both member's of the Templar seem none pleased that their original targets evaded them yet, not one to back down from a fight themselves, they don't remain back for long. Picking themselves back up to their feet the neutral parties rushed forward and, as simply as they were brought up, were sent back out of the ring over the top ropes. In most cases it would warrant an immediate run back in, however, the sound of a chain unsheathing seemed to put the entire arena on edge.
Making his way into the ring as the apparent "next contestant" stands none other than the formerly undefeated Godking. Alone in the ring with Jake's two massive proteges he seemed unfazed as if it was another day. As the two masked men make their attentions directed at Vlad the man simply tightens the grip on his chain whip and stares forward; it was about to become a bloodbath. Hoping to beat the two men to the rush, Vlad decides to go first, snapping the whip forward across the chest of Kabul. Making an mark across the front, the Dysphorian Destroyer steps back while his brother in arms launch forward but receives a lash of the whip across the front of his legs. Wanting to keep Kabul back, Vlad flashes the whip a third time, this time narrowly avoiding Jake's third in command's face but slashing downward across the chest, giving him enough time to take out Beast. Dropping the whip past his side the Bambi Killer soon becomes the Monster Killer booting the big man in the chest before grabbing him in a front facelock. In the same sharp movement he drops the large man jaw first against his knee, making sure the mask goes to good use with his V3 finisher. However, before Vlad has a chance to finish off Kabul a loud "ENOUGH," silences the attack. Turning around Vladimir Strife comes face-to-face with his former brother in arms, Jake Diamond. Like two lone gunslingers left from the bloodiest and worst wars they simply stare each other down, demanding their presence be left alone in the ring.
"Ho-ly shit... The Godking and the Saviour..."
"You can cut the tension with a knife... It's been hyped for so long and, if Jake can win, we might actually see this..."
"They're cut from the same cloth. Both brothers from their Coven days but have gone down different paths... We haven't seen them like this since they were the United Powers...
"It's obvious that now that alliance means nothing."
As Beast rolls out of the ring and Kabul retreats like a wounded animal the tension between the two men left standing seems to be unbelievable. It took forever to come down to this. Years in the making yet still not as significant as an achievement that it should be. With a flash of his bloodied yet still arrogant smile, Jake was ready. A simple nod from Vlad was all that was needed to spark the powder keg. Swinging a wild elbow forward Jake made a simple rookie mistake and underestimated his opponent, receiving a solid punch to the mouth for his efforts. Stumbling back, Jake seemed semi unprepared for the incoming clothesline directed at his head but enough to catch it. Trying to drag Vlad down to the canvas for an apparent Diamond Clutch, Jake's efforts were futile, instead getting yanked forward directly into a head butt from the Godking. Shooting his head back, Vladimir Strife decided to finish him off the same as his protege and dragged him down into a front facelock but Jake's wiry speed got him his number. Sneaking out of the back behind Vlad, the Cult of Personality decided to go for the one up and rotated on his heel, aiming for a Coup De Mort. However, as it would go, counter after counter Vladimir simply ducked under the attack. Sick of his foolish tenacity he decided to end it, sharply spinning Jake around and placing the Diamond's head between his legs. With the crowd on their feet and Jake's fate potentially sealed with a Skesis Driver what would happen next would be unexpectedly expected. Dropping down to a knee Jake pulled the most typical page out of his book, the low blow. Bringing up a sharp uppercut, the Head Hunter went a little south on this shot but, rather than leave it, gathered up what he had left and dragged his longest foe up across his shoulders. Standing on his feet, gritting through a bloodied mouth, Jake was going for his final hurrah. He knew the finish. He knew what his fate had in store for him. Still, he couldn't help but steal the spotlight. Throwing the man forward, Jake tossed a knee up, smashing his knee into the forehead of the Romanian with a Second City Sleep.
As the crowd erupted, fans on their feet, Jake Diamond finally being able to vanquish what had evaded him for so long, it left a perfect opportunity for NVX to strike. However, as fate would have it, Nicholas Carson felt like stealing the show himself. As NVX charged at Jake from behind, the clown faced killer decided to show up in front of the Head Hunter, prompting the former New Age champion to instinctively run away. Thankfully, since karma was apparently on his side for these three seconds alone, NVX's intended attack found its way directly into the gut of none other than Nicholas Carson. Pushing himself up off of the Serial Sadists body, NVX could hardly believe his luck and the lack there of. That was, of course, until Jake decided to capitalize. Spinning the Queens native around, Jake lowered his arm and immediately lifted him across his shoulders, going for another SCS but, exhausted from the match and the previous one and not calculating how squirmy NVX would actually be, lost his grip allowing the man to sneak out the back. Looking for any opening whatsoever, NVX decided that taking the match with a win anyway possible would do it before rolling Jake up from behind with a school boy pin after sneaking out the back. Now, in most cases Jake Diamond would kick out after three but it was now his turn for karma to turn its back on. The same man who stole not only his tag titles but also his stables all out dominance from suddenly squirmed into the ring. Wrapping his entire body across Jake's and holding down the shoulders as NVX held him down, Shawn Dreamer couldn't help but laugh as the referee fell to the canvas. Three seconds was not nearly enough time for the GHW army to realize what was happening.
"Come on now, it's going to take more than a roll- WAIT! NO, FUCK OFF DREAMER!"
"ONE..."
"Dreamer! You can't lose this match for GHW, you're a tag champion for Christ sakes! NVX cannot win this way-"
"TWO..."
"Jake's career is going to end in the same bittersweet way it started... Losing by a cheap pin-"
"THREE!"
Kicking his legs out, Jake thought he got out at the last minute. He had to. It couldn't end like this. It wouldn't. However, much like most of his career, he was more wrong than he could ever realize. Rolling onto his knees, the sound of the bell was like a shot to the heart becoming deaf to the sounds of the EVPW army rejoicing and quickly vacating ringside. The sound of Team GHW becoming aware of what had just happened. The sound of the audience of fans realizing they just watched Jake Diamond's last match ever. Dropping his hands into his laps and his head dangling low, he was too weak to stand up. The adrenaline was gone as was the pain and even the numbness that soon followed. Yet, oddly enough, he was feeling something he thought he would have never felt in this situation.
Relief.
"Ladies and gentlemen... Your winner of the match and the man whose... Whose career is saved... N-V-X!"
At the moment it was NVX's time in the sun, he had ended the career's of one of the most prominent men in the history of GHW and EVPW. Looking over his shoulder at the group of men hoisting their hero onto their shoulders, the smile and proud look resonating off of his face, Jake couldn't help but smile. As one career had ended, another was kick started to the moon. As the rest of his GHW allies flooded the ring, many who had fought tooth and nail against solely for his own agenda, to give him sympathy he simply waved them off with a smile.
At this moment it was an unbelievable achievement. Not only did he end the career of the man who was egging him on and ridiculing him since their encounter in the SCW Deathmatch but he also put an emphasis on how alive and well EVPW was. The war was just beginning and NVX had invaded enemy territory and won. Joined by his group of comrades, NVX decided to leave the finished man to sulk in the ring; leave him in a pool of his own blood, tears, and empty thoughts. He felt some sympathy towards the Fighty fighty person but none for the man.
It took him a bit but he lifted off of his feet, ignoring the blood filling his mouth or the blood oozing down the side of his body, and looked out at the cheering audience. Giving a nodding gesture towards his two Templar, Jake almost silently ordered everyone to leave him alone. As everyone slowly vacated the ringside as well, the Cult of Personality gave a quick glare at Ryan Hughes before pointing a finger gun at the man. Receiving a nod in return he knew it was on. His wrestling days may be over but somehow, someway he'd give Ryan Hughes exactly what he had coming. Standing alone in the ring, Jake silently pointed out to the audience and clapped his hands, thanking the imaginary group of people for their support. Expecting it entirely the, "DON'T LEAVE JAKE!" chants started flooding down but he was ready. Like a man seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, Jake was ready to leave. Seeing the fleet of stagehands waiting in the wings to clean up the ring Jake figured this would be his swan song. Climbing through the top and middle ropes, the Head Hunter silently paused on the ring apron before taking a bow.
The Future had just become the past...
EVPW may have won this battle, but the war is FAR from over between these two warring groups.
Jake Diamond leaves GHW with high honors as a one-time GHW New Age Champion, Tag Team Champion, and Television Champion.
