Colin: Well Al what do you think of this next bout? Exciting?
Al: Oh, very much Colin. Up next we see the return of Desperado to pay-per-view and what can possibly be more exciting than the Deadly Dangerous one?
Colin: D and D?
Al: Yes, D and D indeed.
Colin: But what about his opponent. Connor Quinn in his short time has had only one match prior to this and didn’t come away with much luck. You do remember this past Thursday on Triumph?
Al: How could I forget Colin! The athleticism showcased and all the highflying manoeuvres by the three debutants made that match quite a spectacle.
Colin: A spectacle indeed. Connor did put on a great fight but came just a little short, and now he is scheduled to face a veteran of the game. We heard just minutes ago about how much respect Connor has for Desperado, and how he views him as his idol in the business. But the question is how Desperado would view a very young, untested Fighty fighty person who is trying to make it in the big league, being put to face him at a pay-per-view of this calibre. Is there mutual respect do you think?
Al: Don’t be daft. Everyone knows respect has to be earned. Connor hasn’t won the respect of anyone, least of all someone as big as Desperado. I’d be surprised if James would even know who this guy was. I think this is a direct insult to Desperado from the management. He should be in the World Championship match, not here facing a virtually unknown talent.
“Ladies and gentlemen the following contest is scheduled for a one fall.”
Charlie’s voice rings true within the Boston arena. On cue to the announcement the fans in attendance stand up, their excitement renewed. Their various signs are whipped high, flagging. The festive atmosphere has gained momentum since the start of the night, thanks to some memorable bouts, and now the people are once again getting ready for another. The lights go out. Darkness engulfs everything to cause numerous high pitched screams from females in attendance. Through the darkness the Titan Tron comes alive with only a single word, “EPIC”. A circle of light shines through from the within the floor of the stage below the Tron, then a theme music starts to play. To the awe of the disappeared crowd, a figure walks into the white circle. The golden hair and the ripped masculine body with wide shoulders and a puffed out chest reveals the identity of the Fighty fighty person in question.
“Introducing first, he is from Chicago Illinois and weighting in tonight at two-hundred-and-twenty-six-pounds, Connor Quinn!”
As soon as Charlie’s theatrical introduction ends the arena is lightened up to reveal a shower of golden sparks raining a few feet ahead of the entrant. Connor marches out of his basking spot to split through the waterfall of fire. His strides begin to take him down the ramp. The fans are positively manipulated by this unexpected entrance and start to cheer their man on as he travels through them and towards the ring. Conner drops his head down and extends his arms out to each side, like a crucifix, as he travels to the squared circle. The effect brings his palms closer to people’s reach as they lean over the barricades to steal a touch.
Colin: Wow, I certainly wasn’t expecting this. This is very clever on Connor’s part by making people care just a little bit more about him, because he knows that Desperado’s name alone has made this a blockbuster, and his is not so bright in seeking attention.
Al: Certainly an impressive entrance. But that only raises the expectations. Can he back up the statement he is making here? If Connor Quinn truly believes that he is “epic”, then can he prove it once the legendary Desperado makes his arrival?
