A metal patio table at a club in the outskirts of Kansas City holds an ashtray and two glasses of Maker's Mark and Coke, one full and one untouched. A wisp of smoke dances in the Kansas breeze, Metal Dragon seated in front of it with his eyes watching the aftereffects of a crushed cigarette float to the heavens.
"Two bucks, anything behind the bar. I love this place."
MD takes a hearty gulp of the glass that he was working on, eager to begin his consumption of the other one in his possession.
"Why did I jump out of that ambulance? Why did I spear Dustin Delta, the King of the Deathmatch Champion, after he had already been through hell with two other warriors of the ring? Why did I come back? Why didn't I already do it? It doesn't matter what you had for dinner! It doesn't matter what you had for dinner! Why this? Why that?"
Another drink is taken, MD's free hand tapping the table as a quite popular song has begun playing in the venue.
"Give me a second I,
I need to get my story straight
My friends are in the bathroom getting higher than the Empire State."
"Hey guys and gals, WHY don't you just shut the fuck up and let the story write itself? For now, only two things are certain..."
The first drink is finished, and a sip of the second is taken immediately. The Man of Golden Words takes a deep breath, having had a few drinks already, he is beginning to feel the buzz that he showed up for.
"One, I'm back. Two, I'm not going to compete at NeXuS. In fact, I don't know when I'll be fighting in between the bells again. Who am I? Metal Dragon. The truth of that statement alone is my license to kill. I can show up whenever I want to help or hinder whomever I want. Maybe my motives are unclear even to me."
Another gulp of the whiskey and soda concoction.
"I suppose I live in the moment currently. I've been in the shadows all along while you sat back and wondered where I went or when I'd be back. I moved aside for my own sanity, but in no way was that me walking away for good. Now... now... I come back and I still have power. I see veterans as well as new guys. I see the potential to destroy, as well as the potential to create..."
Yet another sip.
"I'm still young, and I can still set the world on fire. Enjoy your trek through the United Kingdom, my friends, and I'll be seeing you in Boston the second that you return. I'll see you soon in GHW Arena, the house that Stone Orchard built, and everything will unfold gradually. I will make an impact, because that's what I do. I can either create or destroy. The power is in my hands. I'm unpredictable, but that's what you expect in GHW. And remember what I told Charlie Coors oh so long ago... I AM GHW."
The song has played all the way to the second chorus, which is audible once again as MD's speech has concluded. The Tennessean rises from his seat and grabs his drink, then makes his way back to the inside of the bar venue, presumably to try to get laid.
"Tonight,
We are young.
So let's set the world on fire,
We can burn brighter,
Than the sun."
