Monday Night Combat (2/18/08): It ALL Comes Down To This
LIEUTENANT
1. Debut Match
Kid Soldier v. Ito Kain (Single-docs)
Winner: Ito Kain
Notes: Kid Soldier debuts against the most polite Superstar in GHW, Ito Kain. Destruction, chaos and the whole kitchen sink should be followed.
2. Saton v. Dyna Mike Duncan (Cage-docs)
Winner: Dyna Mike Duncan
Notes: Saton wanted Duncan in a cage and that's exactly what he's gonna get. Even though DMD is promoted to the next division, I'm allowing this match to see what kind of guts Saton really has.
3. Non-Title Match
JH777 v. Xx S1CKEM xX (Single-docs)
Winner: JH777
Notes: JH doesn't have to defend his title tonight, but he does have to defend his dignity. S1ckem has been looking pretty good and will give the champ a run for his money.
4. Ladder Tournament Finale
Tommy Musashi v. Harold the Pretzel Man (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Tommy Musashi
Notes: The finals are here for the Ladder Tournament and all eyes should be focused on the ring. Two of this month's strongest Lieutenants will battle in a ladder match to try to make it to the PPV. Harold has shown signs of dominance lately, and that doesn't bode well for Tommy.
CAPTAIN
1. Chad J0hns0n v. Mike Lethal (Single-docs)
Winner: Chad J0hns0n
Notes: Chad is now on the main roster and he gets to tangle with Mike Lethal. These two PYP dropouts will try to get an edge into next month.
2. Non-Title Match
Skull v. TC Carroll (Cage-docs)
No Contest
Notes: Skull puts his unlucky non-PPV streak up against TC Carroll tonight in a cage. It's probably better that my right-hand enforcer loses so that he rests up to kick some butt on Sunday.
3. Pick Your Poison Finale (Best of 3 Falls) (No RnR allowed!)
The Immortal Mortal (1 doc, 1 trainer, 2 coaches) v. Will Powers (2 docs, 1 trainer, 1 coach) (LMS/Ladder/Table)
Winner after 3 Falls: Will Powers
Notes: It's come down to this. TIM takes on Will in the PYP Finale and their Semi-finals opponents have picked their staff. One fall won't be good enough either, as they will go 3 falls if necessary. This is going to be a battle worth watching.
COLONEL
1. Matthew Oliveira v. Ben Wallace (Cage-docs)
Winner: Matthew Oliveira
Notes: Matt O gets into the ring with Ben W. as they battle in a cage match tonight. Does the Surge GM have what it takes to last in the Colonel Division?
2. Bigguns88 v. Lone Wolf (Table-docs)
Winner: Bigguns88 by default
Notes: Bigguns and Lone Wolf have a nice table match on Combat in which should be good if they show up. Here's to praying we see someone get their back out of whack.
3. HawkEye v. Black Dead (LMS-docs)
Winner: Black Dead
Notes: HawkEye was this month's goat, but he will try to make up for his shortcomings against GHW newcomer, Black Dead. I figure if one of them can't stand up at the end of this that is should prove to be a good match.
4. Death Sentence Finale
Carlito Kool v. Big Daddy (Ladder-no staff)
Winner: Big Daddy
Notes: Carlito Kool and Big Daddy finish off my Death Sentence as they fight in a ladder match tonight with no help from their staffs. The winner will be worthy of a title shot, but will he have anything left?
GENERAL
1. Straight-Jacket Match
Zantazm (no staff) v. Gnarfflinger (full staff) (Single)
Winner: Zantazm
Notes: Zantazm keeps passing the tests I give him, but tonight he will suffer. One arm tied behind his back wasn't enough, so he will have to wear a straight jacket in this one. The Butcher will take all liberties to beat him silly, and I will love every second.
2. Debut Match
Pennylane v. I Always Lose (Single-docs)
Winner: Pennylane
Notes: Pennylane makes his debut tonight against I Always Lose. I was fortunate to meet Pennylane before this match and I think he's ready to make an instant impact.
3. Ladder Tournament Finale
StrikerLT v. Rock II (Ladder-docs)
Winner: StrikerLT
Notes: StrikerLT and Rock II battle in the finale of the General Ladder Tournament tonight. I hope to see a good match, but more importantly, I hope to see a winner who will take out Zantazm at Dawn of Destruction.
TAG TEAM
1. Non-Title Match
Demonic Gangstas v. 85th Vertical (docs)
Winner: Demonic Gangstas
Notes: In Non-Title action, the Demonic Gangstas will battle with one of GHW's best tag teams, 85th Vertical. We won't see this match at the PPV, but maybe someday we will.
2. Bronze Tag Tournament Finale
Power Junkys v. Fairy Warriors (docs)
Winners and #1 Contenders: Power Junkys
Notes: Power Junkys and Fairy Warriors get together for the Finale of the Bronze Tag Tournament. I'm not sure who will win, but it will be a hard-fought match of hungry teams.
3. Silver Tag Tournament Finale
Blood Brothers v. The Exterminators (docs)
Winner and #1 Contenders: The Exterminators
Notes: The Exterminators get their last chance at earning the Silver Titles, but they must first get through the Blood Brothers. Anything can happen, and I hope that one team goes down in flames.
4. Gold Tag Tournament Finale
Flying Pans v. Top Gunz (docs)
Winner and #1 Contenders: Top Gunz
Notes: In the Gold Tag Tournament Finale, Flying Pans take on the winners of Top Guns and The Big Ones. With the extra rest, Flying Pans look like the shoo-in.
