Monday Night Combat (4/14/08): The World Stops Spinning
LIEUTENANT
1. Team Canada v. Team Japan
The Legend Slayer v. Ito Kain (Cage-docs)
Winner: The Legend Slayer (Team Canada)
Notes: The Legend Slayer is dying for his first Lieutenant Division match after being promoted a week ago. Tonight he gets Team Japan and Graceland's Ito Kain in a cage.
2. Damage Control Finale
Ultimate Gene v. Travis Truth (Single-3 staff of choice)
Winner: Ultimate Gene
Notes: Valkyrie KD was promoted to the Captain Division over the weekend, so that left us with no Damage Control Finale. Ultimate Gene advanced to the finals with the BYE, so I figure he should have to work to earn the Tournament win. He will face the last Superstar eliminated by Valkyrie, Travis Truth. Travis is getting a huge second chance, so he better thank his lucky stars...and ME.
3. #1 Contender Match (Team Canada v. Team Germany/Poland)
ForSakeN v. Harold the Pretzel Man (Single-docs)
Winner: ForSakeN (Team Canada)
Notes: Harold has been in ForSakeN's nightmares the last few weeks, and FSN has had enough. He has offered Harold a spot in the Lieutenant Title match this upcoming Sunday if Harold can beat him one more time. Problem is, if Harold loses, he cannot challenge ForSakeN for the title as long as he has it.
CAPTAIN
1. Team Mutt v. Team Ireland
The Immortal Mortal v. Truco (Single-docs)
Winner: Truco
Notes: Truco lost to fellow Irishman, Scotty on Mayhem, but their team picked up the points on the battleboard anyway. Tonight Truco will defend his country against Team Mutt's Immortal Mortal. TIM needs to start getting some wins.
2. Sergei Kravinoff v. War Child (Table-docs)
Winner: Sergei Kravinoff
Notes: Sergei had a week off to heal some lingering injuries, but he's back in action tonight against Team Latino's War Child in a tables match.
3. Non-Title Re-Match (Team UK v. Team Latino)
Dyna Mike Duncan v. Psycho Savage (Cage-docs)
Winner: Psycho Savage (Team Latino)
Notes: Last week the Captain Champ squeezed out a last man standing win over Psycho Savage. This week the two will get a rematch in a cage and more importantly, will be trying to give their countries an edge going into the PPV.
4. Damage Control Finale
Chad J0hns0n v. Will Powers (Single-3 staff of choice)
Winner: Will Powers
Notes: It's come down to Chad J0hns0n and Will Powers in the finale of the Captain Division's Damage Control Tournament. Both of these Superstars have inflicted the most damage all month, but only one will move on to World Warz to face Mike Duncan for the Captain Title.
COLONEL
1. Team Mutt v. Team Xantland
Genesis 1 v. Skull (Single-docs)
Winner: Genesis 1 (Team Mutt)
Notes: Team Mutt and Team Xantland clash in a singles match that features Genesis 1 and Skull tonight. G1 may be confused by Skull's technical talents, but Skull better not let G1 get a hold of him.
2. Team USA v. Team Latino
Trickshot v. Terremoto (Cage-docs)
No Contest
Notes: Team USA and Team Latino have been quiet this month, and that doesn't look good for either come the main battle on Sunday. Maybe if I stick these two animals in a cage they'll wake up.
3. Non-Title Match (Team Germany/Poland v. Team Latino)
Big Daddy v. Big Closet (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Big Daddy (Team Germany/Poland)
Notes: Big Daddy has been untouchable for a while now, and that sets up a nice Title match at World Warz against whoever wins Damage Control. Tonight he gets Big Closet in a warm-up ladder match.
4. Damage Control Finale (Team Germany/Poland v. Team Mutt)
Eric The Torture v. TC Carroll (Single-3 staff of choice)
Winner: Eric The Torture
Notes: Eric The Torture may not be winning all his matches, but he's dishing out more damage and that's all that matters. He faces the underdog TC Carroll in the finale tonight. TC has been amazing since entering the Colonel Division and has a chance to be the youngest Colonel Champ if he can get past Eric and Big Daddy.
GENERAL
1. Flag on a Pole Match (Team Xantland v. Team UK)
The Masterpiece 3 v. The Overtaker (Ladder-no staff)
Winner: The Overtaker (Team UK)
Notes: Brian was rightfully upset when DMD ripped up a Xantland sign that had the Xantland flag proudly displayed on it. He challenge Overtaker to a Flag on a Pole match, and since I'm GM, I'm not waiting for OT's acceptance. This match is happening, and it's happening tonight. After Brian wins, he will do as he pleases with the UK flag.
2. Damage Control Finale
y2000j v. I Always Lose (Single-3 staff of choice)
Winner: Y2000j
Notes: Y2000j and I Always Lose have made it to the end of Damage Control, but one of them will lose control tonight when the other beats him silly. Can the underrated y2000j finally make it to the main event for the General Title, or will I Always Lose forever destroy the moniker that holds him down?
TAG TEAM
1. Five-on-Five Tag
Team Canada v. Team UK (Hardcore can use up to 6 staff, Lieutenants can use up to 5 staff, Captains can use up to 4 staff, Colonels and Generals can only use docs)
Winner: Team UK
Notes: The war has just been turned up a notch. Full squads will now battle with each other in a preview of the chaos that will come on Sunday. Team UK faces Team Canada in a battle over the Queen. I like the back story that underlines this match.
2. Five-on-Five Tag
Team USA v. Team Xantland (Hardcore can use up to 6 staff, Lieutenants can use up to 5 staff, Captains can use up to 4 staff, Colonels and Generals can only use docs)
Winner: Team USA
Notes: Let's face it, Team USA has nothing on Team Xantland. Xantland is the true home of the brave, and if you don't believe it, watch what happens when five of Xantland's finest beat the hell out of five of Team USA's ugliest.
3. Five-on-Five Tag
Team Ireland v. Team Portugal (Hardcore can use up to 6 staff, Lieutenants can use up to 5 staff, Captains can use up to 4 staff, Colonels and Generals can only use docs)
Winner: Team Portugal
Notes: I never would have imagined Ireland fighting Portugal in a war, much less a battle, but here we have it folks. The red-tempered Irish will do what they can do against the crafty Portuguese, but I cannot predict a winner.
4. Five-on-Four Tag
Team Mutt v. Team Germany/Poland (Hardcore can use up to 6 staff, Lieutenants can use up to 5 staff, Captains can use up to 4 staff, Colonels and Generals can only use docs)
Winner: Team Mutt
Notes: Germany's unlikely union with Poland is something that will be talked about in the future, but tonight the 4 Superstars from those 2 countries will have the difficult task of facing 5 Mutt Superstars from all around the world.
5. Four-on-Four Tag
Team Japan v. Team Latino (Hardcore can use up to 6 staff, Lieutenants can use up to 5 staff, Captains can use up to 4 staff, Colonels and Generals can only use docs)
Winner: Team Latino
Notes: The last team battle is a 4-on-4 between Japan and Team Latino. Both sides will wage their best efforts to earn points for themselves, and I can only sit back and scratch my head why these teams even entered the war to begin with.
LIEUTENANT
1. Team Canada v. Team Japan
