Monday Night Combat (5/5/08): Ultimate Opportunity
LIEUTENANT
1. Harold the Pretzel Man v. The Legend Slayer (Single-docs)
Winner: The Legend Slayer
Notes: Can Harold Slay a Legend tonight? We'll find out, but he really needs a win or he might be sent back to the concession stands soon.
2. Ultimate X Qualifier
Hyperion v. RhinoMan (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Hyperion
Notes: It's no secret that Hyperion and RhinoMan have a long standing feud with each other. Tonight a new chapter will be written for them as they fight for their lives to qualify for Ultimate X. Rhino will most likely choke, as he did so many times for me and Xantland.
3. Goodbye Lieutenant ForSakeN
ForSakeN v. Samoa Joe KO (Cage-docs)
Winner: ForSakeN
Notes: Cinco de Mayo marks the end for ForSakeN in the Lieutenant Division. This means two things: The Lieutenant Title will be vacated, and the Ultimate X match at NeXuS will name a new Lieutenant Champion. Is the Captain Division ready for the fearless veteran?
CAPTAIN
1. One-Arm-Tied-Behind-the-Back Match
Tommy Musashi v. RJ Wild (Single-Tommy gets docs, RJ gets full staff)
Winner: Tommy Musashi
Notes: Tommy got lucky last week, but his luck has run out. Tonight he faces the returning RJ Wild in a match in which Tommy's right arm will be tied behind his back. After the beating he gets tonight, Mr. Musashi will no longer be a problem for me.
2. WildMan Rambo v. Valkyrie KD (Cage-docs)
Winner: ValKyrie KD by default
Notes: ValKyrie is aching to make her impression felt in the Captain Division, and her breakout is on the cusp. Tonight she takes on WildMan Rambo in a cage, and if Rambo thinks it's gonna be an easy match, he has another thing coming.
3. Table Tournament
Aewyre v. Shocker (Table-docs)
Winner: Aewyre
Notes: Aewyre rested up with a BYE last week in the Table Tournament, but tonight he gets back into the swing of things against Shocker. The winner of this match will face Truco next week in the Finale, which will be for the #1 contendership at NeXuS.
COLONEL
1. TimeSplitters
Malcriado Beast v. Luther (Single-docs)
Winner: Luther in 15 moves
Notes: The faster that MB can defeat Luther, the more time he'll have to drink margaritas in honor of Cinco de Mayo. Luther will try to ruin the festivities if he can.
2. TimeSplitters
Billy Styles v. frog man (Single-docs)
Winner: frog man in 2 moves
Notes: frog man made a splash last week in TimeSplitters in replacement of TC Carroll. Tonight he gets his second match against Billy Styles, who desperately needs a win.
3. TimeSplitters
Slim Shady v. Big Closet (Single-docs)
Winner: Slim Shady in 17 moves
Notes: Slim Shady tangles with Big Closet in both of their third TimeSplitter's match. Big C needs to get things going for his morale and future success in the General Division.
4. TimeSplitters
HawkEye v. Bigguns88 (Single-docs)
Winner: HawkEye in 11 moves
Notes: HawkEye is in the running to win the Tournament, but Bigguns88 stands in the way. If Bigguns can prolong this match, Hawk might not make it. Better to a spoiler than have no affect on the tournament whatsoever.
5. Return of CH (Non-Title Match)
Big Daddy v. CHARISMATIC HARDY (Ladder-docs)
Winner: CHARISMATIC HARDY
Notes: CHARISMATIC HARDY returns and it couldn't be in a bigger match. The former champion and inspirational member of Team Latino is back and he will face the current Colonel Champion Big Daddy in a ladder match. Viva CH on Cinco de Mayo!
GENERAL
1. Black Dead v. Rock II (Table-docs)
Winner: Black Dead
Notes: Black Dead is the first Superstar to qualify for the Money in the Bank Rumble at NeXuS. Tonight he'll work on building some momentum by facing Rock II in a table match. This promises to be a bone-breaking bout.
2. Money in the Bank Qualifier
Pennylane v. The Masterpiece 3 (Single-docs)
Winner: The Masterpiece 3
Notes: Pennylane will get his chance to qualify for the Money in the Bank Rumble at NeXuS when he takes on Brian Commonwealth tonight. One of these two will meet Black Dead and anywhere from 3-6 other opponents at the PPV for the chance to become Mr. Money in the Bank. Brian, don't let down Xantland.
3. Non-Title Match
Luke Kinkade v. Martin Prince (Cage-docs)
Winner: Luke Kinkade
Notes: Luke Kinkade stumbled last week after dominating everyone he's faced for the last 2 months. Everyone has an off-day, and I'm confident he will get back on track against Martin in a cage tonight.
TAG TEAM
1. #1 Contender Match
Natural Disasters v. 85th Vertical (docs)
Winner: Natural Disasters by default
Notes: In the first of three #1 contender matches, Natural Disasters take on 85th Vertical. The winner of this match will face the other two #1 contender match winners next week in a Triple Threat match for the undisputed #1 contendership for the Silver Tag Titles.
2. #1 Contender Match
Demonic Gangstas v. The Beginning of Enlightenment (docs)
Winner: Demonic Gangstas
Notes: Demonic Gangstas had their opponents no-show last week, but that is very unlikely this week. BoE is aching to get gold around their waists again after being promoted to the Silver Division. Does BoE have what it takes to swim with the sharks in a new ocean?
3. #1 Contender Match
Truth & Consequences v. Allaryian Warriors (docs)
Winner: Allaryian Warriors
Notes: In the final #1 contender match of the evening, T&C will take on the Allaryian Warriors. The Allaryian Warriors are a cohesive unit, but they have yet to win a big match that will define them as a tag team. I think tonight could be their first step to stardom.
4. Non-Title Match
Flying Pans v. Skull & Crossbones
No Contest
Notes: Skull and Crossbones are the brink of breaking up and killing each other...and Mr. Beaks. They will face the Gold Tag Team Champions Flying Pans in the midst of their struggles. What is going to come out of this?
5. Bronze Tag Team Championship
Unleashed Rage v. The Wild Childz (docs)
Winner and NEW Bronze Tag Team Champs: Unleashed Rage
Notes: Unleashed Rage will take on The Wild Childz for the vacant Bronze Tag Team Titles to conclude Combat tonight. Rhino thinks that he will get revenge on me by winning these belts, but everyone knows he can't get along with anyone, including his tag team partner. Look for The Wild Childz to finally win their first Titles.
