Monday Night Combat (6/16/08): The Masters Championship
LIEUTENANT
1. Debut Match
Tito Ortiz v. Huck Wade (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Tito Ortiz
Notes: Tito Ortiz was on his way into the GHW arena on his first day when he was unpleasantly met by Huck Wade. After a few words were exchanged, these two find themselves in a ladder match tonight on Combat. Tito would love nothing more than to shine in his debut, while Huck would love to play the underdog winner.
2. Non-Title Match
Fuz v. Perfect Combination (Cage-docs)
Winner: Fuz
Notes: Fuz has to defend his Title this upcoming weekend at Tried and Convicted, but tonight he has to get into a cage to take on Perfect Combination.
3. Master of the Mat Finale
Ultimate Gene v. Rated R Legend Killer (Best of 3 Singles-docs)
Winner in 3 Falls: Rated R Legend Killer
Notes: Ultimate Gene and Shane Williams have made it to the finale of Master of the Mat in their Division and now the true master technician will be crowned. Who will show off his undeniable ring skills and go to Tried and Convicted for a Lieutenant Title shot?
CAPTAIN
1. Non-Title Match
Will Powers v. NightMare (Single-docs)
Winner: NightMare
Notes: Will Powers got a break last week when his opponent decided not to show up for their contest. Tonight, he will hope that NightMare doesn't show, but odds are that he will, and things may not end up very pretty.
2. Master of the Mat Finale
JH777 v. Chad J0hns0n (Best of 3 Singles-docs)
Winner in 3 Falls: JH777
Notes: JH777 smoothly got into the Finale of Master of the Mat with a BYE last week. Now he must bring everything he has if he wants to get past Chad J0hns0n and have the Master of the Mat name bestowed upon him. Ocho Cinco, in the meantime, has fought a hard road to get to this point, and there's no stoppin' him.
COLONEL
1. Sergei Kravinoff v. ValKyrie KD (LMS-docs)
Winner: ValKyrie KD
Notes: Muhammad Hassan has a tough task tonight when he gets into the ring with one tough Bulldog named Kelly Duncan. Kelly recently suffered her first defeat in GHW, but that won't stop the vixen from laying down Muhammad for a 10 count.
2. Dark Lord v. Terremoto (Table-docs)
Winner: Terremoto
Notes: Dark Lord and Terremoto will definitely put on a heavyweight battle to throw each other through a table tonight.
3. War Child v. Truco (Cage-docs)
Winner: Truco
Notes: War Child was impressive this month, and that just goes to show that he's ready to step up to the next level. He took Slim Shady the distance in the Master of the Mat semis, and he will be a force to reckon with in the near future. Tonight he gets in a cage to do some damage with Truco.
4. Triple Threat Non-Title match
Big Daddy v. HawkEye v. CHARISMATIC HARDY (Table-docs)
Winner: CHARISMATIC HARDY
Notes: Three of the biggest names in the Colonel Division will clash in a triple threat non-title match, just 6 days before Tried and Convicted. Big Daddy will try to maintain his health, while HawkEye and CH will look to send a message. It's anybody's game in this one.
5. Master of the Mat Finale
Genesis 1 v. Slim Shady (Best of 3 Singles-docs)
Winner in 2 Falls: Genesis 1
Notes: Genesis has battled to get to the Master of the Mat finale, and you wouldn't think a Superstar of his stature would be as technically sound as he has been, but he has impressed. His opponent is equally as tough and ruthless, so we're in for an epic finish to a great Tournament.
GENERAL
1. Submission Match (Must score a sub to win)
The Masterpiece 3 v. Eric The Torture (Single-docs)
Winner: Eric The Torture
Notes: Brian requested this submission match, and I granted it, knowing that this will jumpstart his revival in the General Division and put him right where he needs to be going into this weekend's PPV. Eric oddly helped Brian after his match last week, and his motives right now are very questionable.
2. Non-Title Match
Luke Kinkade v. Joao Gomes (Cage-docs)
Winner: Joao Gomes
Notes: Luke Kinkade surprised many, including Black Dead on Friday Night Mayhem, when he successfully defended his General Title in a barbed wire ladder match after Black Dead cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase. Now, Luke has to defend again at Tried and Convicted against the Master of the Mat. Before that, he will take on Black Dead's cousin, Joao Gomes, who is seeking some revenge for BD last Friday.
3. Master of the Mat Finale
StrikerLT v. Martin Prince (Best of 3 Singles-docs)
Winner in 3 Falls: StrikerLT
Notes: Friends will become enemies tonight when Striker and Martin lock up to determine the next General Master of the Mat. I don't like either of these two, but they've managed to make it to the Finale in one of the toughest divisions. Only one can survive, and whoever does, he will face a dominant Luke Kinkade at Tried and Convicted. Maybe the loser is better off...
TAG TEAM
1. Debut Match
The Pain Killers v. TommorrowIsMine/Tito Ortiz (docs)
Winner: TommorrowIsMine/Tito Ortiz
Notes: The newest GHW tag team, The Pain Killers, will debut tonight, and instead of having them face the Bronze Champs, I've put together another new team. That team consists of TommorrowIsMine and Tito Ortiz. It's about time the Bronze Division heated up, so let's get the action started.
2. Arrogance Personified v. Sock em Boppers (docs)
Winner: Arrogance Personified by default
Notes: Arrogance Personified came extremely close to becoming this month's Masters of the Mat in the Gold Division, but Cousins of Destruction derailed them in the finale. Nevertheless, this duo is gonna make it to the top one way or another, and a quick beating of the Sock Hop team will illustrate this.
3. Master of the Mat Finale
Power Junkys v. Allaryian Warriors (Best of 3 Singles-docs)
Winner in 2 Falls: Power Junkys
Notes: The Silver Tag Team Division wraps up the Master of the Mat Tournament, and the two remaining teams are the Allaryian Warriors and Power Junkys. The Power Junkys have been to the promised land before, so they definitely have the experience edge. The Allaryian Warriors, however, have the heart and desire to win, so you can't count them out. One of these teams will face the Silver Champs at Tried and Convicted.
