Monday Night Combat (9/29/08): Last God or Heretic Standing
LIEUTENANT
1. Debut Match
Marcus Airborne v. John The Crusher (Single-docs)
Winner: John The Crusher
Notes: To kick off Monday Night Combat, newcomer Marcus Airborne will face John The Crusher in singles action. Many Superstars come and go from GHW, but only the special ones leave their mark. Will Marcus become one of those elite Superstars?
2. The Ultimate Kid v. RhinoMan (Table-docs)
Winner: RhinoMan by default
Notes: The Ultimate Kid and Mr. Money in the Bank RhinoMan face off in a table match on tonight's show. With Rhino already eliminated from the Lieutenant Gauntlet, everyone is wondering when he will cash in his briefcase. Is the Champion Ultimate Gene ready?
3. Lieutenant Gauntlet
Rated R Golden Star v. The Master (Single-docs)
Winner: The Master
Notes: The Ultimate Opportunist is making the best of his opportunity thus far in the Lieutenant Gauntlet. He's gotten by RhinoMan and Tito Ortiz. Now The Master, Billy Styles, enters and isn't in a good mood.
CAPTAIN
1. Dyna Mike Duncan v. The Heartbreak Kid (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Dyna Mike Duncan
Notes: There's a little controversy hovering around DMD lately as he fights off alleged steroid rumors. He made his return to the ring last week, but came up short. Will he have better luck against The Heartbreak Kid this week?
2. LMS Tournament Match
Samoa Machine v. Tommy Musashi (LMS-docs)
Winner: Tommy Musashi
Notes: The second round of the LMS Tournament begins tonight as Samoa Joe faces the winner of Shane Williams and Tommy Musashi. The ultimate goal of all these Captains this month is to be the last man standing and earn a spot at Gods v. Heretics against Captain Champion Will Powers.
3. LMS Tournament Match
JH777 v. DARKLORD (LMS-docs)
Winner: JH777
Notes: In a battle of two big sluggers, JH takes on newcomer DARKLORD in second round Tournament action. DARKLORD has won his first 2 GHW matches, one a Tournament match and the other a Non-Title match. Now he looks to defeat a former Captain Champion to take one step closer to the Title.
COLONEL
1. Matthew Oliveira v. Angelus (Single-docs)
Winner: Angelus
Notes: I don't like it one bit that Matthew Oliveira and HawkEye advanced to the second round of Friend or Foe so I am going to throw my weight around tonight. Matt will get a little warm-up match before he has his next Tournament match against Angelus.
2. Friend or Foe Tournament
HawkEye/Matthew Oliveira v. Sergei Kravinoff/RJ Wild (docs)
Winner: HawkEye/Matthew Oliveira
Notes: RJ Wild forfeited his Friend or Foe Tournament match last week when his partner, War Child, failed to show up for the match. Well, I thought it was unfair and bad for ratings to see Sergei Kravinoff eliminated from the Tournament as well, so I've decided to pair him up with RJ to give both a second chance.
3. Friend or Foe Tournament
The Irishman/Untamed Beast v. ValKyrie KD/Luther (docs)
Winner: ValKyrie KD/Luther
Notes: Untamed Irishman looks like solid tag team, but they will face their toughest challenge to date when they take on Bulldogs, Kelly and Luther. Right now everyone is friends, but you know that in the back of their heads they're thinking about themselves in the end.
GENERAL
1. Big Closet v. CHARISMATIC HARDY (LMS-docs)
Winner: CHARISMATIC HARDY
Notes: Big Closet takes on El Colombiano, CH, in a relentless LMS match tonight. The former Latino Heat members will dish out everything they can to be the one to leave the ring on his own power.
2. Friend or Foe Tournament
Pennylane/Eric The Torture v. StrikerLT/Slim Shady (docs)
Winner: Pennylane/Eric The Torture
Notes: Skull and Crossbones got a first round BYE in the Friend or Foe Tournament, but tonight they don't have that luck. They face Striker and Slim Shady, and this one should be a tag team match worth watching each move until the end.
3. Friend or Foe Tournament
Psycho Savage/Muhammad Hassan v. Black Dead/frog man (docs)
Winner: Psycho Savage/Muhammad Hassan
Notes: Psycho Savage and Jake Steele seemed to have worked well as a team last week, just as Black Dead and frog man did. Now these two decently-oiled teams will collide and one will remain. Luke Kinkade and his General Championship await a Friend and Foe at Gods v. Heretics.
TAG TEAM
1. Symphany of darkness v. Team Demolition (docs)
Winner: Symphany of darkness
Notes: Symphany of darkness were impressive in their first match last week as they defeated Unleashed Rage in tag action. Tonight they take on Team Demolition, and if they beat them, they could arguably say that they're next in line for a Silver Tag Team Title shot. That is unless someone else has something to say about it.
2. Non-Title Match
Bulldog Savages v. Under the Influence (docs)
Winner: Bulldog Savages
Notes: Some say the Bulldog Savages are holding onto the Gold Tag Team Titles by the skin of their teeth. The Bulldog Savages disagree, and will attempt to prove wrong all critics by dismantling Under The Influence tonight in a Non-Title match.
