Friday Night Mayhem (12/19/08): The Contenders
LIEUTENANT
1. Fatal Fourway Match
Destroyer v. The Ultimate Kid v. Eric The Torture v. Essa Rios (docs)
Winner: Essa Rios
Notes: The three final Survival of the Fittest Superstars that couldn't come up with the win on Monday Night Combat will be joined by Essa Rios in a fatal fourway to start of Mayhem. With Eric's career on the line on Sunday and Essa Rios' pride on the line that same night, these two could use a huge victory tonight.
2. Non-Title Match
Tito Ortiz v. Ultimate Gene (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Tito Ortiz
Notes: Tito Ortiz will defend his Lieutenant Title at Blood Runs Cold against either trickshot or The Master, but he must first climb a ladder to defeat Ultimate Gene tonight. Are Tito's days as Champ numbered?
3. #1 Contender Match
trickshot v. The Master (Single-docs)
Winner: Trickshot
Notes: The Master came out of nowhere and shocked the GHW community with a huge Rumble victory on Combat this week. Now he must stand across the ring from his friend and ally, trickshot, in a battle for the #1 contendership and Tournament victory. Who is the fittest of the fit?
CAPTAIN
1. ForSakeN v. HaydenHardKore (Single-docs)
Winner: ForSakeN
Notes: FSN has a date with Samoa Machine on Sunday, but that comes after he tangles with unpredictable Grammar Fairy tonight on Mayhem. Can ForSakeN get back on top this weekend?
2. Non-Title Match
Lunchtime Legend v. Malcriado Beast (Cage-docs)
Winner: Malcriado Beast
Notes: Lunchtime Legend found out his opponent for the Captain X-Force Championship this Sunday when Tommy Musashi defeated The Grammar Fairy on Combat. Now Double L will have to get in a cage with Malcriado Beast before he defends his belt at the PPV.
COLONEL
1. Matthew Oliveira v. Euroman (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Matthew Oliveira by default
Notes: Matthew and Euroman get to use some ladders to their discretion tonight, and it will be exciting to watch them get innovative.
2. RJ Wild v. Luther (LMS-docs)
Winner: Luther
Notes: RJ Wild is thirsting for some competition so why not give him Luther in a nice last man standing match? This should be fun to watch unfold as these Superstars prepare for what's to come next month.
GENERAL
1. Black Dead v. I Always Lose (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Black Dead
Notes: Black Dead gets a special treat tonight since he's the special guest referee on Sunday in a match that I can't wait to see...the 5-man You're Fired! Rumble. That special treat is his own tag team partner, I Always Lose in a ladder match. Black Dead will get to watch his friends fight on Sunday and he'll get to fight his friend tonight. Sometimes it's better not to have friends at all.
2. Muhammad Hassan v. Big Closet (Single-docs)
Winner: Muhammad Hassan
Notes: Jake Steele will put on a wrestling clinic tonight with Big Closet as the two have a classic one-on-one match. Both of these Superstars are working their way to top of the General Division, and there's no better reason for getting a win tonight.
3. Revenge Match
Falling Angel v. Gnarfflinger (LMS-docs)
Winner: Falling Angel
Notes: Falling Angel came to my office requesting a rematch against Gnarfflinger or Angelus, who dealt her two losses so far in her GHW career. I decided to give her Gnarfflinger in a suggested LMS match. Now it's time for Falling Angel to get some revenge...or Fall flat on her face trying.
4. Non-Title Match
Genesis 1 v. Pennylane (Single-docs)
Winner: Genesis 1
Notes: Genesis will get a helluva challenge tonight when he takes on Pennylane in a singles match, but that's not what will be on his mind. Genesis has a preliminary Title match at Blood Runs Cold that features two others. If he can win that, then his belt is safe. If he loses to one of those competitors, then he will defend his belt against that Superstar later in the evening.
5. #1 Contender Match
Big Daddy v. CHARISMATIC HARDY (Single-docs)
Winner: Big Daddy
Notes: Big Daddy watched eagerly as CHARISMATIC HARDY defeated 5 others on Combat to earn a shot at his #1 contendership tonight on Mayhem. The winner of this one is the Fittest Survivor and will face Slim Shady at Blood Runs Cold for the General Championship.
TAG TEAM
1. #1 Contender for Gold Tag Team Championship
ReVamped v. Elitist Club (docs)
Winner: Elitist Club
Notes: StrikerLT came through for his tag team last week on Mayhem, but now his team must await the winner of the Gold Tag Team Individual Rumble on Combat so they can fight tonight for the #1 contendership. Who will get the coveted opportunity of facing Havoc at BRC for the Gold Tag Team Titles?
2. Bronze Tag Team Championship
Brutal Thugs (c) v. Height of Impact v. Reality Check (docs)
Winner and NEW Bronze Tag Team Champs: Height of Impact
Notes: A new Bronze Tag Team will be crowned tonight and I'll be damned if it's not Height of Impact. HoI defeated Reality Check on Combat this week, but YOUNG GANGSTA angered me and I want to see his mouth shut for good. That will also come to the expense of Brutal Thugs, but I don't care about them either. A great night is going to end with a great finish.
