Monday Night Combat (4/13/09): War is noW
LIEUTENANT
1. Debut Match
Soilder v. Dave Abernethy (Single-docs)
Winner: Dave Abernethy by default
Notes: Soilder makes his GHW debut tonight to open the show against Dave Abernethy. Dave has struggled in GHW so far, but he finally picked up his first win last week. Can he make it two in a row, or will the newcomer send Dave back into a spiral?
2. Non-Title Match (Team USA v. Team USA)
YOUNG GANGSTA v. Trickshot (Table-docs)
Winner: YOUNG GANGSTA
Notes: YOUNG GANGSTA still does not know his opponent this Sunday at WWIII, but rest assured, he will be defending the Lieutenant X-Force Championship on that evening. Tonight, he takes on trickshot in a Team USA v. Team USA battle, and I'm hoping these comrades shred each other.
3. Non-Title Match
The Master v. Luke Kinkade (Cage-docs)
Winner: The Master
Notes: The Master hasn't had much competition lately, but tonight will be much different. He will take on his tag team partner, Luke Kinkade, inside a cage, and afterwards, he will limp to WWIII where he'll defend his Title against Damage Control winner, trickshot.
CAPTAIN
1. Team Xantland v. Team UK
Marcus Airbourne v. Dangerous Man Dan (LMS-docs)
Winner: Dangerous Man Dan
Notes: Marcus Airbourne is hungry for another Captain X-Force Title reign, and I'm happy to oblige, as long as he sends a message to Dangerous Man Dan in this LMS match. Dan hasn't been in a match in a long time, but I could care less because if he wants to face Destroyer in the future, he'll have to lace up the boots against Marcus.
2. Damage Control Finale
Essa Rios v. Torjio Kazukuni (Single-3 staff of choice)
Winner: Essa Rios
Notes: Essa Rios and Torjio Kazukuni have dealt the most damage this month among their peers and now they must face each other head-on in the much anticipated Damage Control Finale. The winner goes to WWIII and the loser goes back to square one.
COLONEL
1. #1 Contender Match for Colonel X-Force Championship
Samoa Machine v. Tito Ortiz (LMS-docs)
Winner: Samoa Machine
Notes: Samoa Machine will fight Tito Ortiz in a LMS tonight, with the winner taking one of the empty spots in the Colonel X-Force Championship match at World Warz III.
2. #1 Contender Match for Colonel X-Force Championship (Team Mutt v. Team Xantland)
Lunchtime Legend v. Luther (Single-docs)
Winner: Luther
Notes: Lunchtime Legend came close to making it to the Damage Control Finale, but fell just a tad short. Now he'll get a second opportunity at gold and a PPV spot when he takes on Luther in a contendership match. Luther is not to be taken lightly, as he will proudly be waving the Xantland flag.
GENERAL
1. Team Japan v. Team Latino
HawkEye v. Big Closet (LMS-docs)
Winner: HawkEye
Notes: HawkEye and Team Japan have their work cut out for them at World Warz III, and that's the way it should be. Tonight Big Closet seeks revenge on HawkEye from a match earlier this month. This time it will be under LMS rules.
2. Team Latino v. Team Xantland
Black Dead v. Pennylane (Best of 3 Falls Singles-docs)
Winner in 2 Falls: Pennylane
Notes: Black Dead and Pennylane have a recent history that may have gained each other's respect. My objective is to open the wounds once again in this best of 3 falls singles match. If nothing else, I want to see Xantland gain another edge on the world and crush another Latino Superstar.
3. Non-title Match
Dyna Mike Duncan v. Slim Shady (Cage-docs)
Winner: Slim Shady
Notes: Dyna Mike Duncan needs to score a big victory tonight in a cage to get his last minute momentum kicked up into full gear for Sunday's PPV. His opponent, Slim Shady, doesn't lay down for anybody, except for maybe Mike.
4. Damage Control Finale
The Impacter v. StrikerLT (Single-3 staff of choice)
Winner: StrikerLT
Notes: The Impacter has come out of nowhere to be a huge force in the General Division this month in GHW. He's delivered damage after damage to his opponents, and now he'll get his toughest challenge to date, StrikerLT. Who is going to top of a great month with a spot at World Warz III against General Champion, Kelly Duncan?
TAG TEAM
1. Two-on-Two Team Battle
Team USA (YOUNG GANGSTA/Eric The Torture) v. Team Japan (Torjio Kazukuni/Tommy Musashi) (docs)
Winner: Team Japan
Notes: After a week or so of full Team Battles, tonight things are going to get switched up. Two Americans will take on two Japanese in a traditional tag team match. Any wins for their countries will be morale boosting, especially since Xantland is so far ahead and above the rest.
2. Two-on-Two Team Battle
Team Mutt (Lunchtime Legend/Cobrita) v. Team Xantland (Marcus Airbourne/Samoa Machine) (docs)
Winner: Team Xantland
Notes: Two members from Team Mutt will tangle with two members of Team Xantland in this tag team match. It's obvious that Xantland is a much better oiled team than any other team, but it will still be fun to see a couple members in action instead of the whole team.
3. Two-on-Two Team Battle
Team Xantland 2 (The Ultimate Kid/Genesis 1) v. Team UK (Destroyer/Martin Prince) (docs)
Winner: Team UK
Notes: Xantland's second team will represent tonight when they destroy two members from Team UK in this tag team match. Most teams have shown that they're not on the same page with each other, but Xantland is a totally different story.
4. Two-on-Two Team Battle
Team Europe (StrikerLT/Reckoning) v. Team Canada (Gnarfflinger/The Angel of Darkness) (docs)
Winner: Team Canada
Notes: Europe and Canada will clash in a two-on-two tag team match tonight, and it is going to come down to who is in the ring with whom.
5. Two-on-Two Team Battle
Team Xantland (Dyna Mike Duncan/Pennylane) v. Team Latino (Black Dead/Big Closet) (docs)
Winner: Team Latino
Notes: The powerful Xantland duo of Dyna Mike Duncan and Pennylane will crush Team Latino's Black Dead and Big Closet in this final two-on-two team battle match. It will be an appropriate way of concluding Combat, and signaling the impending domination at World Warz III. Long Live Xantland!
