Friday Night Mayhem (5/29/09): An Xcellent Night
HARDCORE
1. Future Talent Match
Pudge v. Bob the BadGuy (Single-docs)
No Contest
Notes: Pudge has made his menacing debut in GHW, and people are still trying to figure out what kind of a monster he is. Tonight, he takes on Bob the BadGuy in a future talent match, and it should be a great stage for these two to show off their skills...or possibly lack thereof.
LIEUTENANT
1. Cobrita v. Stevie Rock (Single-docs)
Winner: Cobrita
Notes: Cobrita makes his GHW return tonight after healing from an injury that has kept him out a month. He will face Stevie Rock, and then he will be inserted into the Master of the Mat Tournament next week. Can Cobrita get back on the path of success after a short absence or will his ring rust be apparent?
2. Master of the Mat
YOUNG GANGSTA v. Christian Cage (Best of 3 Singles-docs)
Winner in 3 Falls: Christian Cage
Notes: YOUNG GANGSTA and Christian Cage lock up in a Master of the Mat best of 3 falls match tonight and both have a lot to prove. Christian lost his Lieutenant X-Force Title at NeXuS, and he's looking to untarnish his name as a fluke-Champion. YG, on the other hand, had a great week last week and looks to build on that momentum in the month of June.
3. Non-Title Match
Rock II v. The Angel of Darkness (LMS-docs)
Winner: Rock II
Notes: Rock II dominated Martin Prince at NeXuS in their Table Tournament Championship match and is now the new Lieutenant Champ. He will have his first non-title match tonight against AOD in a brutal LMS match. Does AOD have what it takes to hang with the Champ?
4. Lieutenant X-Force Championship
Dyna Mike Duncan (c) v. Martin Prince (Martin chooses-docs)
Winner and STILL Lieutenant X-Force Champion: Dyna Mike Duncan
Notes: Dyna Mike Duncan is the new Lieutenant X-Force Champion and he's a fighting Champion at that. He has made an open challenge to all Lieutenant Superstars to fight for his new Title, and Martin was the first to step up. Martin even gets to choose the match type because I am so confident that Mike will silence him. Here's to a first Title defense good pal!
CAPTAIN
1. ForSakeN v. Dangerous Man Dan (Table-docs)
Winner: ForSakeN via no-show
Notes: ForSakeN desperately wants to be on top of the Captain Division one more time before he gets promoted, but he'll have some stiff competition in front of him this month in the Master of the Mat Tournament. Lucky for him, he received a first round BYE. Unlucky for him, he has to take on Dangerous Man Dan in a table match tonight.
2. Non-Title Match
Genesis 1 v. The Heartbreak Kid (Single-docs)
Winner: Genesis 1 via no-show
Notes: Genesis 1 won a hard-fought battle against Luke Kinkade to become the new Captain X-Force Champion at NeXuS. Now, he will wait to see if any Captains step up to challenge him for his belt this month at Tried and Convicted. In the meantime, he'll take on The Heartbreak Kid tonight on Mayhem in Non-Title action.
COLONEL
1. Non-Title Match
Malcriado Beast v. Luther (Cage-docs)
Winner: Luther
Notes: MB's work is cut out for him tonight when he has his first non-title match against former Colonel X-Force Champion, Luther. To add to this tough opponent will be a tough match type as the two will be enclosed in a steel cage. Life's not easy being a Champ, and MB will learn this lesson quickly.
2. Non-Title Match
Eric The Torture v. RJ Wild (Single-docs)
Winner: Eric The Torture
Notes: Eric The Torture is atop the Colonel Division, but RJ Wild is looking to unseat either him or Malcriado Beast this month. RJ will get his chance to prove that he's a worthy contender when he locks up with Eric in a classic singles match. Even though RJ got past round 1 in Master of the Mat, there's still a lot of work to be done.
GENERAL
1. Non-Title Match
ValKyrie KD v. Pennylane (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Pennylane
Notes: Kelly Duncan keeps on rolling, and at this rate, she may be the General Champion for the unseen future. At NeXuS, she steamrolled TimeSplitter winner, CHARISMATIC HARDY, and now she will await the 2009 Master of the Mat. Tonight, she will have to take on Pennylane in a ladder match, and it won't be easy.
2. Non-Title Match
Angelus v. y2000j (Single-docs)
Winner: Angelus
Notes: Angelus soared to a General X-Force Championship victory on Sunday when he took out two extremely strong veteran Superstars in a triple threat match. Now, he stands tall and proud with the General X-Force Title, but he better not get too comfortable. His opponent tonight, y2000j, defeated General Champion Kelly Duncan last week. Is y2000j capable of beating two champs in consecutive weeks?
TAG TEAM
1. Non-Title Match
Hood Charisma v. Demolition (docs)
Winner: Hood Charisma
Notes: Hood Charisma successfully defended their Bronze Tag Titles for the first time at NeXuS when they took out Armageddon. Now, they face Demolition, who is currently in the tag team Master of the Mat tournament to earn a shot at the Champs at Tried and Convicted.
2. Sevenfold Riot v. Dark Bulldogs (docs)
Winner: Sevenfold Riot
Notes: Sevenfold Riot make their grand return to GHW in efforts to prove that they are still a strong team that can make an impact in the tag ranks. They will get a tough challenge to kick off their revival, and it won't be a walk in the park trying to defeat Dark Bulldogs.
