Santo teeters on the edge of the turnbuckle, the effects of a long match evident, even without seeing the mystery man's face. Underestimated, the Mexican Mystery Man had already turned heads with his toe to toe performance against the GHW legend. With the punctuation mark coming from the Springboard Knee Strike that had send Reeves packing. The rapid linking of his moves had lead him to the point where he was looking down over his battered opponent, summoning the willpower to "seal the deal", as Al Mulligan had put it.
:Colin "Fuzz" Jennings:
Santo Masceras has been underestimated right through this match Al. He came out here to folks thinking it was all a big joke, but the underdog has proceeded to stand toe to toe with Reeves.
:"Big" Al Mulligan:
Well, he's done better than I expected Fuzz, I'll give the pesky Mexican that. But he still hides behind his mask, too afraid to show himself. How can a coward like that beat a legend like Reeves?
He can't thats how...
As Mulligan speaks, Santo stands up on the turnbuckle, beckoning for the crowd to stand to his feet. Facing forward, into the ring and still looking over the downed body of the Sketch Kid, he makes a small adjustment of the mask on his face before leaping into the air. As he leaps, he performs a back-flip, tucking the heels of his feet in behind him and grabbing them with his hands. Like poetry in motion, he soars through the air almost in slow motion. Reeves does not flinch as the Shooting Star Press looks to silence him for good.
After what had seemed like an eternity soaring through the air, Santo's Star Press hits home, landing fluidly across the torso of his veteran opponent. He wastes little time in going for the pin, hooking the leg as the ref slides into position once again.
:Colin "Fuzz" Jennings:
Shooting Star Press. He could do it Al!
Santo could shock the world with an upset here!
The ref's palm slaps the canvas for the first time, the crowd counting along with him
"1... 2..."
:"Big" Al Mulligan:
No!
:Colin "Fuzz" Jennings:
Yes!
"3..."
The ref's hand slams into the canvas for the third and last time, to a shocked and stunned silence around the arena. The GHW Arena is held in a giant pregnant pause as a collective breath is held. In silence, the bell sounds the end of the match. The ringing of the bell spurs the crowd into life once more, as an almighty cheer erupts around the arena.
Always ones to cheer on the underdog, the crowd had rallied behind the Mexican Mystery Man and even though they are no closer to finding out who the mysterious man is, his efforts in the ring and his victory has sparked the arena into a fiesta. Santo stands to his feet as "I Would Die For You" by Mariachi El Bronx plays around the arena again. This time there is no jeering laughter. It had been replaced by the spirit lifting sounds of Santo's name being chanted and echoed throughout the arena. The underdog Mexican lifts his hands in triumph as he slowly begins making his way toward the backstage area, the fiesta only just beginning.
:Charlie Coors:
The winner of this match...
Santoooo.... Mas-ceras!
Charlie's voice is almost drowned out by the crowd as he confirms the victory, Santo having made his way out of the ring now and dancing his way up the ramp. Reeves, still slightly dazed and confused, slams his fists down on the mat in frustration as he realizes what had just happened.
Charlie Coors stands in front of the camera, the victory of Santo Masceras still fresh in the minds of all gathered in the arena. With a crafty smile on his face, he speaks in a hushed voice. He is standing in front of a plain white doorway, the sign above it reading "GHW: Authorized Access Only".
:Charlie Coors:
Ok... So, I'm here in search of Santo Masceras. He's just won his first GHW match, and still nobody knows who the guy is. What is hiding under that mask?
I'm here to answer the question on everybody's lips... WHO is Santo Masceras?
Now, I just spotted him a moment ago heading through this door here into the competitors lounge, so who knows what we're going to find. Follow, lets check it out.
Charlie bursts through the door and into the almost empty lounge. A few technicians are milling around looking very important. Across the room, standing by a table filled with plastic cups of drink is Santo Masceras, still dressed in his wrestling attire, still with his mask on. Having not noticed Charlie enter, Santo takes a swig from the cup in his hand before Coors' presence in the room becomes apparent. He spins around to see what the intrusion is, only to find a microphone being stuffed in his face. Taken aback, he steps backward in a natural reaction, almost knocking the drinks table over in the process.
:Charlie Coors:
Santo!
I just have one question for you then I'll be out of your hair... If you have any under that mask that is. Do you think you have time for one question?
Santo stares blankly at Charlie, looking at the microphone and the camera before turning his attention back to the interviewer once again, tilting his head slightly to the side in confusion. Thinking that there may be some confusion, Charlie steps in to try and rectify the situation.
:Charlie Coors:
Mexican, of course...
Do you speak English Santo?
This time, the blank look is gone, Santo nodding in answer to the question.
:Santo Masceras:
sí
Having fulfilled his obligation, Santo turns from the camera and heads toward the door of the lounge. It takes Charlie a moment to realize what he is doing. By then, Santo had all but passed through the door and into the hallway.
:Charlie Coors:
No, wait... That didn't count. That wasn't the question.
Santo, come back! That wasn't what I wanted to ask.
Noticing that his interview target had left, and there was no sense in continuing to call after him, Charlie curses under his breath before turning back to the camera.
:Charlie Coors:
Damn Mexicans!
I guess we will have to wait till another day to find out just who Santo Masceras is. Could be anybody, what lies beneath the mask?
With that, he beckons for the feed to be cut and the screen turns to black once more, answering no more than what it had started with. The question remains... Just who is Santo Masceras?
