The scene comes back into the GHW venue where the programme is more than midway through the second half of the show, just before the promised sexy main event of the evening. The buzz of the crowd steadily dies down as everyone’s attention is fixed on Charlie Coors standing with a microphone at the centre of the ring. His official posture indicates that he is about to make an important announcement. The camera’s zooming level focuses primarily on the man facing the western side of the arena as he brings his microphone up.
Coors: Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome back returning to Tuesday night Triumph after five months, the former multiple time World Tag and Television Champion, the Messiah of professional wrestling, the Ladder Queen, Kahlan!
With Charlie’s last word a big collective YEAH rips throughout the Boston arena and the entire place falls into darkness as all the lights go off unanimously. While the period of all out blackness extends in seconds, the crowd’s buzz builds up. Sporadic but spreading groups of fans take up chanting “KAHLAN-KAHLAN”. Unceremoniously the giant Tron atop the curtained entrance lights up with a single silvery-word ‘Kahlan’ and a mass of pyros blast upwards flashing and for a short moment illuminating the entire venue. “Jesus of Cool” begins to play and in a very unprecedented moment the audience in attendance synchronised to this explosive pyrotechnical brilliance pop in delight for the one known as the Special One. Amid the returning blackness following the illuminations a spot of light falls on a place deep within the masses of GHW fans. Through the opening in that place, walks out the Ladder Queen with head bowed and blue hair covered in the hood of a flimsy black and yellow vest. Taking the steps down two at a time while holding her arms spread out to both sides she runs down the line of frenzy created to intercept her passage. Fans of all age and sex rush over to slap a hand or lay a touch on their long gone favourite athlete.
Al: Wow Kahlan is back and these fans are showing their appreciation, because they know how special a moment this is. They didn’t get to see her in action when she returned to GHW a couple of weeks ago at the pay-per-view, but hopefully this means that she is back to compete.
Colin: She wasn’t much loved the last time she was in this ring, treating the fans and everyone else like dirt, constantly reminding them about their place as compared to her “special” self, but boy do these people look like they’ve missed their own English female fatale. I wonder how much this would last, until perhaps when she gets her hand on one of those microphones.
Reaching the end of the blazing line by the security barrier and leaving people screaming in excitement at her wake, Kahlan holds the upper railing of the barrier for support and hops over to the other side. She quickly climbs up the steel steps and slips into squared circle. The spot light disappears as the lights come back on and Kahlan rushes over to jump up onto the second buckle of the south-western corner of the ring. She raises a hand to flick the hood off then proceeds to punch both fists up in the air as her flowing blue hair is released. The sharp movement blows her unbuttoned vest open and the front of the black T-shirt she is wearing underneath is displayed. She notices this and a cheeky grin appears out of nowhere on her usually expressionless facial features. She directs her toothy grin at the portion of fans in front of her while pointing at the famous “I LIKE ME” expression written on the T-shirt. The response she gets is a cheer of “HELL YEA” livening up the crowd even more. She climbs down from the buckles and leans over the middle rope to receive a microphone from an attendee, which she accepts with gratitude. She turns and begins to casually pace around the ring as if trying to soak up the moment even further with her grin still hanging on. When she finally does get to raise the microphone there is a momentary rise in the buzz before the arena quietens down somewhat in expectation.
Kahlan: “OH IT IS GOOD TO BE BACK DAMMIT!”
The enthusiastic way she blew out the words take the fans by a wave of nostalgia and they pop again in excitement. While nodding in response to the reaction she was just receiving with her jaw hanging open she brings the microphone up again to speak but the electricity running in the moment seems to have caught her by surprise and so she pauses for a moment to gather up her thoughts.
“Yes. Yea, this is definitely even more exciting than what I thought it would be. Ever since I debuted here in GHW I have never been this long away from the business. Yes there have been the time where I was forced to quit and leave GHW, but never for so long have I been away from this business and my biggest true passion in life, wrestling! Wrestling is what I do! Wrestling is what I think! Wrestling is what I live for! And never have I missed it this damned much in my life! I had a magical time at Blood Runs Cold when I came back to GHW, but sadly the match never happened and that was a bitch, but tonight you people have once again made me feel bloody special!”
This time she allows the cheering to go on a bit more than before and soon a chant of Kahlan’s name starts again. Eventually Kahlan raises a hand up.
“Thank you. You do not know how much this really means to me. I don’t want to take your time and continue to talk and give you a headache but I feel I do awe you an apology, I will try and cut it short. There is never really anything I can do to make it up to you, especially for the things I have done in the past apart from saying sorry and admit to being a total bitch. However, to repay some of this good faith shown towards me I promise you this. Now that I’m back, I promise you RedBull driven, nonstop, action packed entertainment the likes of which you come to expect when you buy a ticket or change the channel to tune into TNT every single week of the year, and I promise you that I will continue to amaze you, to leave you in awe, to make you go through emotions you never knew existed until the moment I am not physically capable to do so any longer! So without any further ado let it be known that Kahlan is back and she is back to kick some serious ass! … Oh by the way, before I forget, Smarky if you’re still alive I was never pregnant. Sorry bud.”
With a wink she drops the microphone and its thud starts off her theme, the “Jesus of Cool” by Skew Siskin once again as the fans let out another round of cheers.
End – Yes this means I am really back… via the internet.
