A well built man in his early 20’s is shown in his dark basement punching against an old ragged punched bag that has most of its leather ripped apart. The basement consists of some old weights, a weights bench, a speed bag and a skipping rope as well as the punch bag in the centre of the room hanging from the ceiling.
It looks like a home-gym of some trainee boxer who is either using someone else’s equipment or is a hardcore trainer. The man whose head is covered by a hoody is shown repeatedly punching the bag violently yet with precision and rhythm. After a long period of boxing the bell of a phone can be heard, coming from his apartment upstairs.
The man removes his hood to reveal a young bald man with a determined and confident look in his eyes. He removes the phone from the pocket of his coat which lies on the single arm chair which happens to be the only piece of actual furniture besides the T.V. across it.
The man answers to the call:
"Hello, ... who's this?"
"It's me Mikey, ..."
" ... Wazzup Mikey, been a long time where you at these days?"
Mikey: "Oh well, quite a few places but that ain't really important at the moment, we'll catch up on that shit later, ... Listen up Chris cause I got some good news for you, ... I got you a job, ..."
He is cut off by Chris.
Chris: "Nah, ... I told you before I'm wasting my talent. No more bar fights or standing outside a club making sure no-one fucks around ..."
Mikey: "Whoa chill out man hear me out. I asked this guy right, that I knew some time back, sorted him out with a few problems back in the days. Anyways, he is some kind of backstage assistant and he informed me that GHW is looking for some fresh, new talent."
Chris: "GHW, ... That wrestling show, the one thats televised weekly, ... you gotta be kidding me."
Chris sounds really happy and great grin appears across his face.
Mikey: "This is your chance boy, all you gotta do is check in early tomorrow morning at around 6 am as they are running try-outs. You gotta be original and I'm sure you got all the talent they're looking for. I told you all that training with that wrestling and that muay-thai trainer is gonna come in handy. I'll come pick you up tomorrow morning, If they pick you, you got a chance of a 2 year contract worth 1/2 a million dollars. That's like 5 grand per week. It's gonna be like your dream come true dog, ... Hey don't forget though there are over a hundred contestants and they're only lookin' for a couple or two."
Chris: "Don't worry bro, ... you've given me this chance, and I will never forget your favour upon me. You know how I spent all my money to attend that wrestling school for 2 years, I was the best, I had it all until my injury. I had a chance to make it profesional but fate had other plans. Now that I've got a second chance, ... I ain't gonna blow it."
Mikey: "I know your gonna get in kiddo, just show 'em what your made off. Catch-ya tomorrow mornin' then. Have an early night."
Chris: "Don't worry about me, I'll be at my best come morning. G'night"
Chris puts the phone down and jumps in joy, he cannot believe his luck. He has a chance to continue in the career of his chosen. He runs down the steps of his basement and starts training for the big day tomorrow.
