Monday Night Combat (6/9/08): Proficiency Reigns Supreme
LIEUTENANT
1. Perfect Combination v. Ultimate Gene (Cage-docs)
Winner: Ultimate Gene
Notes: Ultimate Gene is the lucky Lieutenant Superstar who will make his way to the Master of the Mat Finale via a BYE. He will end up facing either Dimebag Darrell or Rated R Legend Killer in that match. Tonight he must escape a cage in one piece against Perfect Combination to even give himself a shot next week.
2. Non-Title Match
Fuz v. Travis Truth (Table-docs)
Winner: Fuz
Notes: Fuz is coming deadly close to a promotion, and everyone would love nothing more than to see him defend his Lieutenant Title at least one time at Tried and Convicted. Travis Truth will attempt to cause some damage on the champ in a tables match.
3. Master of the Mat
Dimebag Darrell v. Rated R Legend Killer (Best of 3 Singles-docs)
Winner in 2 Falls: Rated R Legend Killer
Notes: Jeff has the goal of winning Master of the Mat, but Rated R Legend Killer stands in the way. Both of these Superstars have earned their position in the semis, but only one of them is technically sound enough to make it to the finale next week.
CAPTAIN
1. NightMare v. RJ Wild (LMS-docs)
Winner: NightMare
Notes: RJ Wild is suffering from losing his friend Saton last week, but if you ask me, good riddance. Tonight RJ will wake up to face NightMare, who will clobber him left and right in a devastating LMS match.
2. Non-Title Match
Will Powers v. WildMan Rambo (Table-docs)
Winner: Will Powers by default
Notes: Will Powers will probably only defend his title one more time before promotion and that big match will be at Tried and Convicted. In the meantime, he takes on WildMan Rambo in a table match, and he better savor his moments in the spotlight.
3. Master of the Mat
Chad J0hns0n v. Aewyre (Best of 3 Singles-docs)
Winner in 3 Falls: Chad J0hns0n
Notes: Ocho Cinco has had his best month in a long time, and he hopes it continues if he can defeat Aewyre in the semis tonight. Aewyre also has a lot on the line, as attempts to win his second straight Tournament in a row. The winner of this huge match will take on JH777 next week in the Finale.
COLONEL
1. Matthew Oliveira v. Dark Lord (LMS-docs)
Winner: Dark Lord
Notes: Matt will face Dark Lord tonight and meet his maker afterwards. OK, he may survive, but his headache is going to be horrible when he wakes up.
2. War Child v. Luther (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Luther
Notes: War Child is the lucky Colonel Superstar to pass onto the next round of Master of the Mat with a BYE. There are only 4 others remaining, and it's going to take a huge effort by War Child to get past the rest. Luther will entertain him in a ladder match in the meantime.
3. Master of the Mat
Truco v. Genesis 1 (Best of 3 Singles-docs)
Winner in 3 Falls: Genesis 1
Notes: The winner of Terremoto and Truco will take on the waiting Genesis 1. Genesis isn't known for his technical expertise, but as long as he clobbers his opponent and wins, it doesn't really matter. G1 is my favorite to winning this thing this month.
4. Master of the Mat
Slim Shady v. Shocker (Best of 3 Singles-docs)
Winner in 2 Falls: Slim Shady
Notes: Slim Shady has looked unbeatable, and deservedly so. Shocker is going to have to reach down and find his bets stuff if he has any chance in hell.
5. Non-Title Match
Big Daddy v. HawkEye (Table-docs)
Winner: HawkEye
Notes: Big Daddy is running circles around his non-title challenges, and Hawk might as well join the rest. Odds are that Hawk will be a tablecloth tonight.
GENERAL
1. Martin Prince v. y2000j (Table-docs)
Winner: y2000j
Notes: Martin Prince, a member of the unthreatening and extremely quiet Crimson stable, receives a BYE to the finals of Master of the Mat. I've decided to let him take on y2000j in a table while he's waiting. I'm a nice guy, huh?
2. The Masterpiece 3 v. Gnarfflinger (LMS-docs)
Winner: The Masterpiece 3
Notes: Brian has been running into some poor luck lately, but facing Gnarfflinger in a LMS match is just what I've ordered to snap that bad streak. Brian will rise to the occasion soon, I know it.
3. Master of the Mat
Pennylane v. StrikerLT (Best of 3 Singles-docs)
Winner in 3 Falls: StrikerLT
Notes: Striker and Pennylane will have to outlast one another tonight, and the good news is that one of them will be eliminated afterwards. The bad news is that we'll have to see one of them in the finals against Martin Prince next week. I think Striker's time has run out.
TAG TEAM
1. Non-Title Match
Skull and Crossbones v. Flying Pans (docs)
Winner: Skull and Crossbones
Notes: After Pennylane gets done facing Striker, I figured he could join his tag team partner, Eric The Torture, in a nice little tag team match against former-gold tag champs, Flying Pans. Eric, get the ice ready for your friend afterwards.
2. Master of the Mat
Allaryian Warriors v. Harold and Kumar (Best of 3 Singles-docs)
Winner in 3 Falls: Allaryian Warriors
Notes: Allaryian Warriors earned a BYE last week, but they did face the Silver Champs in Non-Title action and failed to win. They better hope that they bring a better game tonight against Harold and Kumar, who are fluking their way through this tournament. Surely there have to be better Masters of the Mat than two never-have-beens like Harold and Ollie.
3. Master of the Mat
Arrogance Personified v. Cousins of Destruction (Best of 3 Singles-docs)
Winner in 3 Falls and Masters of the Mat: Cousins of Destruction
Notes: Arrogance Personified deserve to be cocky and sure of themselves after what they've accomplished thus far in the Tournament this month. They face either the tough X Perience, or the Cousins of Destruction in the Finale of Master of the Mat. The winner of this enormously important match will get a title shot against Skull & Crossbones at Tried and Convicted.
