Monday Night Combat (6/23/08): Renaissance Men
LIEUTENANT
1. Jack of All Trades
Tito Ortiz v. Bud Whiser (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Bud Whiser by default
Notes: Tito took care of Huck Wade in his debut last week, but now he will be entering his first GHW Tournament in a ladder match against Bud Whiser. Is Tito the Ultimate Fighter that he says he is?
2. Jack of All Trades
Rated R Golden Star v. Dimebag Darrell (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Rated R Golden Star
Notes: The Golden Star hasn't gotten his feet all that wet yet in GHW, and he faces Jeff in a ladder to start of both of their Jack of All Trades journeys. Can one of these two outlast the rest?
CAPTAIN
1. Jack of All Trades
The Impacter v. Maxwell Darko (Single-docs)
Winner: The Impacter by default
Notes: The Impacter got a nice no-show victory in his debut against Prince of Phenomenal last week on Mayhem. It was later found out that PoP had an injury and was unable to compete. Tonight, Impacter will face a brand new star in GHW, Maxwell Darko, so this could be considered a double debut. The stakes are a bit higher than a normal debut though.
2. Jack of All Trades
The Killer Animal v. Harold the Pretzel Man (Single-docs)
Winner: The Killer Animal
Notes: Harold and The Killer Animal have a lot to prove if they think they're gonna make it as big stars in the Captain Division. Both are still on Surge and fighting ferociously to get back in the spotlight. Harold has been on a winning streak lately, but all bets are off when the pressure of a Tournament is on you.
3. Jack of All Trades
ForSakeN v. Stevie Rock 2 (Single-docs)
Winner: ForSakeN
Notes: ForSakeN is almost ready for a jump back onto the main roster, and Jack of All Trades may be his springboard. He faces Stevie Rock tonight as Stevie tries to snatch up a desperately needed win.
4. Jack of All Trades
Chad J0hns0n v. Duece (Single-docs)
Winner: Chad J0hns0n by default
Notes: CJ was on top of his game last month but fell at the very end. He's not one to disappear after putting up such a strong effort, so Duece better watch out. These two vets will be neck and neck all the way to the final bell.
5. Jack of All Trades
JH777 v. RJ Wild (Single-docs)
Winner: JH777
Notes: In the last Captain Division Jack of All Trades match of the evening, Master of the Mat JH777 will take on the wild one, RJ Wild. JH was a fluke winner last month, as evidenced by his loss to Captain Will Powers at Tried and Convicted. RJ Wild should end his misery quickly tonight and not give him any false hopes of a Title reign.
COLONEL
1. Jack of All Trades
Malcriado Beast v. Shocker (Single-docs)
Winner: Shocker
Notes: MB has got to be happy that his stable, Latino Heat! is starting to reform and try to get back to the top. Problem is, they're barking up the wrong tree trying to mess with the Bulldogs. Maybe MB should focus on Shocker and his singles career for once.
2. Jack of All Trades
War Child v. Dark Lord (Single-docs)
Winner: Dark Lord
Notes: What do you get when you put War Child against Dark Lord in a singles match? A great first round Jack of All Trades match, and a dark war that will devastate the crowd.
3. Jack of All Trades
Truco v. Big Closet (Single-docs)
Winner: Big Closet
Notes: Big Closet makes his return to GHW action when he gets in the ring with Truco in a first round match. Does Big C have the cobwebs, or has he been training to stay in shape?
4. Jack of All Trades
Psycho Savage v. frog man (Single-docs)
Winner: Psycho Savage
Notes: frog man should benefit from this match being a singles match, but Psycho Savage is not a Superstar to overlook. This should be one of the better matches of the night.
5. Jack of All Trades
HawkEye v. Muhammad Hassan (Single-docs)
Winner: HawkEye
Notes: HawkEye isn't the same HawkEye lately, and Jake Steele will try to jump all over that. With Big Daddy happily sitting pretty, can one of these make the impact that's needed to make him worry?
GENERAL
1. Jack of All Trades
Eric The Torture v. Slim Shady (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Eric The Torture
Notes: Eric may have gotten past ValKyrie and Luther last night at Tried and Convicted, but the freshly promoted Slim Shady is going to stop him in his tracks to begin the Jack of All Trades Tournament. Eric still has to be tired from that match anyway.
2. Jack of All Trades
Black Dead v. Gnarfflinger (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Black Dead
Notes: Black Dead failed to cash in his briefcase, and then he whined about it. Now he's trying to fight me by joining Latino Heat. Hopefully Gnarfflinger hits him over the head a few times tonight to get his senses straight.
3. Jack of All Trades
The Masterpiece 3 v. Pennylane (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Pennylane
Notes: Brian is a submission specialist and a mat technician, so this tournament may not be his cup of tea. Nevertheless, I feel that he has the talent to overcome these obstacles and become victorious. Pennylane stands in his way, and realistically, that's an obstacle that can be overcome.
4. Jack of All Trades
Joao Gomes v. Martin Prince (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Joao Gomes
Notes: Martin Prince made it all the way to the finale of Master of the Mat and then choked. Surprise, surprise. Now he has to take on Joao Gomes in a ladder to begin a whole new month. This match is anybody's call.
TAG TEAM
1. Jack of All Trades (Regular Tag)
Unleashed Rage v. Forsaken Duece (docs)
Winner: Forsaken Duece
Notes: The Silver Division begins its path to the feared Ultraviolent Tag Match Finale in the Jack of All Trades tournament. Unleashed Rage will lock up with Forsaken Duece in a traditional tag match.
2. Jack of All Trades (Tornado Tag-Single IDs)
The X Perience v. ReVamped (docs)
Winner: The X Perience
Notes: The Gold Tag Division will begin with a tornado tag match between The X Perience and ReVampled. All Superstars will be in the ring at the same time with the last Superstars standing winning the match for his team. This is going to be an Experience worth watching.
3. Jack of All Trades (Regular Tag)
Natural Disasters v. 85th Vertical (docs)
Winner: Natural Disasters
Notes: Natural Disasters and 85th Vertical will face off in a match between veteran tag teams. Both are yearning to reach the pinnacle of their Division again, but it's taking longer than expected. Could this be the month?
4. Jack of All Trades (Tornado Tag-Single IDs)
Cousins of Destruction v. Flying Pans (docs)
Winner: Cousins of Destruction by default
Notes: Cousins of Destruction are the 2008 Masters of the Mat, but that was not good enough last night against Skull and Crossbones. They fought in one of the wildest and closest tag matches in history, but their efforts were not good enough. Now they have to re-earn another shot at the Champs, and it begins with a Tornado tag against Flying Pans.
