Friday Night Mayhem (9/5/08): Back with a Vengeance!
LIEUTENANT
1. Bud Whiser v. Lunchtime Legend (Ladder-docs)
No Contest
Notes: Lunchtime is over, and that means that it's time to get back to work. LL is now in the Lieutenant Division after a recent promotion that leaves the Hardcore Title vacant. Can he get off on the right foot in a new domain, or will Bud hold him down?
2. Travis Truth v. Tommy Musashi (Single-docs)
Winner: Tommy Musashi by default
Notes: Tommy and Travis have their eyes on the MITB briefcase this month, and it is yet to be seen if one or both will qualify for the Rumble at Code Blue. In the meantime, they'll put their best technical skills to work tonight on Mayhem.
3. Money in the Bank Qualifier
RhinoMan v. Tito Ortiz (Single-docs)
Winner: RhinoMan
Notes: Who will join the Rated R Golden Star in the MITB Rumble at Code Blue? Rhino and Tito will be fighting tooth and nail tonight for sure, which means the fans are going to get the ultimate payoff.
CAPTAIN
1. Power Grappler BYOB Tournament Match
Malcriado Beast v. Samoa Machine (Single-docs)
Winner: Malcriado Beast by default
Notes: The Power Grapplers in the Captain Division will fight it out to see who will move to the BYOB Finale Rumble. Those PGs are the latino veteran, Malcriado Beast, and the surprisingly strong, Samoa Machine.
2. Stiff Neck BYOB Tournament Match
The Stiff Neck v. HaydenHardKore (Single-docs)
Winner: HaydenHardKore by default
Notes: What would a Stiff Neck BYOB match be without The Stiff Neck himself? The Grammar Fairy is going to have to capitalize on his often-strange techniques to move on to the final leg of the Tournament.
COLONEL
1. Aerial BYOB Tournament Match
RJ Wild v. frog man (Single-docs)
Winner: frog man
Notes: The frog man is going to be jumping around the ring tonight when he takes on RJ Wild in the Aerial BYOB Tournament match. One of these Superstars are going straight to the Finals while the loser will be in the Redemption Rumble.
2. Power Grappler BYOB Tournament Match
Luther v. Big Closet (Single-docs)
Winner: Luther
Notes: Luther and Big Closet represent the PGs in the Colonel Division, and I hope they tear up the ring for supremacy tonight because this could be a career match for one of them.
3. Non-Title Match
Psycho Savage v. Genesis 1 (Cage-docs)
No Contest
Notes: PS came out of nowhere to win the Colonel Champion at Summer Ritual. This can't please Genesis or ValKyrie KD, and especially not Dyna Mike Duncan. Now with the Bulldogs on his trail, where is Psycho Savage going to run? Nowhere, because he's trapped in a cage tonight with Genesis.
GENERAL
1. Power Grappler BYOB Tournament Match
Black Dead v. y2000j v. Slim Shady v. Big Daddy (docs)
No Contest; Eliminated: Slim Shady, Big Daddy
Notes: Black Dead, y2000j, Slim Shady and Big Daddy round out an impressive foursome of Power Grapplers in the General Division. These Superstars will have to fight for their lives in tonight's rumble that will definitely discover the best of their breed.
2. Non-Title Match
Luke Kinkade v. Eric The Torture (Table-docs)
Winner: Eric The Torture
Notes: Luke manages to escape Summer Ritual with the General Title around his waste, but he didn't do so on clean terms. Penny won the match via DQ, but that's all fine and dandy for me. Just to put salt in the wounds, I've decided to put Luke against Penny's tag team partner, Eric, in a table match.
TAG TEAM
1. Under the Influence v. Lost Cause (docs)
Winner: Lose Cause
Notes: Under the Influence is an intriguing team, but can they get into a rhythm that will produce gold for them in the future? They'll have to beat Lost Cause, that's for sure.
2. Wild Closet v. ReVamped (docs)
Winner: ReVamped
Notes: Wild Closet takes on the returning ReVamped in another Gold Tag Division match tonight, and if I'm not asleep by the end of this one, then something is very wrong.
3. Non-Title Match
Bulldog Savages v. Skull & Crossbones (docs)
No Contest
Notes: The new Gold Champs, Bulldog Savages, will have to face the Skull and Crossbones duo tonight, and this should be a nice little test for what their future holds.
