Dressed in a black tuxedo, a sharp contrast to his regular appearance, Vladimir Strife makes his way to the podium. He adjusts the microphone slightly and gives a small sigh.
"Where to begin, where to begin. When you're inducting a man like Kingbear into the Hall of Fame, there's 2 things you suddenly realize. This first is that at 6 feet, 10 inches tall and 379 pounds, you better make sure you do damn well. The second is that this bear has REALLY been around the block, through the buildings, busted out the car windows and made a second lap around. Easily one of the most destructive forces in wrestling history, Kingbear is nothing short of the definition of a wrestling legend.
His career began like most, working in small time feds, striving to make a name for himself. He more than accomplished this goal, leaving his mark in his first federation with a record of 17 wins and a mere 3 losses. It wasn't long until his power and talent got notice from bigger and better things, being signed to Neo Revolver Wrestling, where he would decimate the competition with an even more impressive overall record of 86-17 before suffering a debilitating knee injury that put him on the shelf.
Kingbear wouldn't let anything hold him down though, he's always been a strong willed man and when he puts his mind to something, consider it accomplished. He would come back years later to join the All Star Wrestling Federation, forming an alliance that would change the face of wrestling itself: The Coven. Along with fellow leader, Hawkeye, Kingbear and the Coven were an unstoppable force, crushing everything in their path. A while later, Kingbear found himself promoted into his first General Manager spot, calling the shots for ASWF's Saturday Night Nightmare. It was with this power, in fact, that Kingbear was able to generously offer me a job and help me achieve my childhood dream. A kind but strong leader, Kingbear found his place watching over the stars and keeping the lockerroom in order.
However, it was short lived, ASWF going under soon there after and going out of business. In partnership with fellow Coven member Hawkeye and an oddball he met in ASWF, the infamous Hyper Elf, Kingbear helped establish Solid Core Wrestling, a federation unlike any seen to the world. With a perfect blend of brutal hardcore matches and pure wrestling talent, SCW pushed the envelope and attracted both extreme wrestling fans that screamed for blood and traditionalist fans who craved technical ability. The company went on to merge with another major federation in Glory and Honor Wrestling, bringing to life the Gods and Heretics Wrestling organization that has become the very beacon of talent in today's wrestling.
If there's one moment of Kingbear's illustrious career that sticks out in my mind, it's the match that nearly took his life, the life of his partner Hyper Elf, and their opponents Steel Sledge Hammer back in SCW. Battling throughout the arena, these 4 men hit one another with every drop they had, every bit they could dig deep and pull out. In the end, only the fall from the arena could end the match, the men landing on cars and spending over a month in the hospital. For weeks, myself and the roster sat back in fear, wondering if they could and would pull through the nightmare. I'm still not sure how any of them pulled through except to explain that they were possessed. They were possessed with that attitude that you never turn back, never give up, burn the bridge because there's no retreat. That's what Kingbear had taught us all, even his opponents.
If you asked me to describe Kingbear in one word, it would simply be 'leader'. This is a man who was born to lead. Whether inside the ring or from behind a desk, Kingbear has never turned a deaf ear to the fans. He's listened to their every whim and given them what they want time and time again. Regardless of being a fan favorite or not, the fans have always been HIS favorite. It never ended there though. Kingbear also took care of his talent, going beyond the call of duty often. Whenever I've struggled in my career, the big man was always right there to help me along. Not just me either. I've seen him spend nights in the gym just helping guys like Alex Stall and Crazy Boy back in the days of SCW, giving us every bit of his attention, time and energy, no matter how hopeless we seemed. If it wasn't for his help, I don't believe a one of us would be half of what we are today. He's a top notch Fighty fighty person and a top notch person.
It is because of this and much much more that I am glad to announce the introduction of one of wrestlings largest, no pun intended, legends into the Hall of Fame. Ladies and Gentlemen, GHW co-owner and head GM of the GHW's Revelations faction (Saturday Night Decimation and Wednesday Night Genesis)... a man I'm proud to call my mentor and my friend.... the incomparable KINGBEAR!"
Applause rings throughout the audience as Vladimir applauds as well, taking a step back from the podium and awaiting Kingbear to come out and accept the honor.
