Friday Night Mayhem (10/17/08): X-Pect the Worst
LIEUTENANT
1. Zen v. Lunchtime Legend (Cage-docs)
Winner: Lunchtime Legend
Notes: Zen won a great debut match last week against John The Crusher, and looks to fit in well so far in GHW. Tonight he takes on Lunchtime Legend in a cage, and that should test his resiliency.
2. Tito Ortiz v. The Master (Single-docs)
Winner: Tito Ortiz
Notes: Tito puts on his gloves to fight The Master in a traditional singles match tonight. The Master needs to start backing up his words in the ring, something he has been unable to do lately.
CAPTAIN
1. The Heartbreak Kid v. HaydenHardKore (Single-docs)
Winner: HaydenHardKore
Notes: The Grammar Fairy may have heartache tonight if he can't defeat The Heartbreak Kid in a singles match. GF almost won the LMS Tournament but came up short. If he can win this match, I may consider him for the Captain X-Force Title....or maybe I'll just keep looking.
2. Skull v. Tommy Musashi (Table-docs)
Winner: Skull
Notes: Tommy could not make the dream tournament happen this month as he fell at the hands of JH777 on Combat in the LMS Finale. Nevertheless, Tommy has proven that he's ready for his new division, and he'll get a taste of one of the biggest vets of it, Skull, tonight in a table match.
COLONEL
1. Euroman v. RJ Wild (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Euroman
Notes: Euroman is going to represent the entire continent of Europe tonight when he takes on Portugal's RJ Wild in a ladder match. RJ needs to start getting some wins or he's gonna be an early exit in his Latino Rumble at Gods v. Heretics.
2. Matthew Oliveira v. Angelus (Single-docs)
Winner: Matthew Oliveira
Notes: Ollie couldn't fight his way out of a paper bag, much less a singles match with Angelus. Expect a quick win and another L added to the former's record.
3. Backyard Brawler 2 v. Luther (Cage-docs)
Winner: Luther
Notes: Kelly Duncan had her month, and she defeated her partner, Luther, on Combat to win Friend or Foe. Luther will now try to get a win this week by facing BB2 in a cage. Both of these two are going to make a tough case for a X-Force Title shot, but I'll be the one to decide who gets that.
GENERAL
1. Genesis 1 v. Gnarfflinger (LMS-docs)
Winner: Genesis 1
Notes: Genesis is chomping at the bit to become a successful General Superstar, but he'll have to tangle with one of the most hardcore guys before he can consider himself part of the top half of the division. Gnarff poses a big threat, and with LMS rules on tap, anything can happen.
2. StrikerLT v. Black Dead (Single-docs)
Winner: StrikerLT
Notes: StrikerLT takes on BD in a singles match, and for the sake of one of their careers, they need to make a statement. Both have taken a dive in their Division, and if I am going to consider them for the X-Force Title, I'm going to need to see something special.
3. Big Closet v. Pennylane (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Pennylane
Notes: Pennylane suffered an upset loss on Combat in the Finale of the Friend or Foe Tournament at the hands of his new partner, frog man. Even so, Penny has seen the light lately by doing things that I never thought he was capable of. Quite frankly, he has tenacity, grit and desire to become one of the best, and I just may give him the opportunity to become just that.
4. Non-Title Match
Luke Kinkade v. y2000j (Cage-docs)
Winner: Luke Kinkade
Notes: Luke is starting to get back in form, and that's perfect timing considering he takes on frog man at GvH in a little over a week. Tonight though, he must face y2000j in a cage match.
TAG TEAM
1. Shelly and Donovan v. Brutal Thugs (docs)
Winner: Brutal Thugs
Notes: Shelly and Donovan were denied the opportunity of debuting last week when their opponent did not show up. Now, they finally get competition and it's the Brutal Thugs that will stand in their way. This is a preview of big things to come between these two teams that are hungry for Bronze Tag gold.
2. Dark Bulldogs v. Unleashed Rage (docs)
Winner: Dark Bulldogs
Notes: Dark Bulldogs are the kind of team that make me smile when they compete. They're ruthless, rugged and fight without any remorse. Tonight they take on Unleashed Rage, and I think it's gonna get ugly fast.
3. Non-Title Match
Bulldog Savages v. Wild Closet (docs)
Winner: Bulldog Savages
Notes: Bulldog Savages are the content Gold Champs and they are even happier that they face the winless Wild Closet in tag action tonight. After they go through the motions, Bulldog Savages will rest up to face their #1 contender in a hardcore match at GvH.
4. Non-Title Match
Sevenfold Riot v. Team Demolition (docs)
Winner: Sevenfold Riot by default
Notes: Sevenfold Riot get tested by Team Demolition tonight, but no belts will be on the line. Team Demolition are the current #1 contenders, and will get a taste of what the champs have to offer before these two teams clash for the straps.
