Friday Night Mayhem (5/15/09): Hurting Inside and Out
HARDCORE
1. Future Talent Match
The Prince of Punk v. Zeph Calder (Single-docs)
Winner: The Prince of Punk
Notes: The Prince of Punk lost his debut match in GHW, but he's looking to turn things around when he takes on Zeph Calder on the main roster stage of Friday Night Mayhem. Zeph is still looking to get things going in his own career, and this match may be the impetus he needs.
LIEUTENANT
1. Raistlin Majere v. Dark Raveness (LMS-docs)
No Contest
Notes: Raistlin and Dark Raveness will clash in a Lieutenant Division Last Man Standing match tonight. Raistlin has been quiet after making waves with the X-Forces the last few months. Has he hit a slump, or is he going to step up his game?
2. Money in the Bank Qualifier
Martin Prince v. YOUNG GANGSTA (Single-docs)
Winner: YOUNG GANGSTA
Notes: Martin Prince and Rock II will be fighting for the vacant Lieutenant Championship in the Table Tournament finale at NeXuS. Martin may also be in the Money in the Bank Rumble match that same night if he can get past YOUNG GANGSTA tonight.
3. Money in the Bank Qualifier
The Angel of Darkness v. Ultimate Gene (Single-docs)
Winner: Ultimate Gene
Notes: Hey mom, look, it's Gene! The Ultimate One will be facing The Angel of Darkness in a MITB Qualifer tonight. AOD got trampled on by Rock II in a LMS on Monday, so we'll see if he's still feeling any of the effects of that match.
CAPTAIN
1. TimeSplitters
Genesis 1 v. Essa Rios (Single-docs)
Winner: Genesis 1 in 23 moves
Notes: Essa and Genesis will fight their last TimeSplitters match tonight, and it will be all for pride. Neither has won a match so far in the Tournament, but at least one will taste victory when it's all said and done. Formality or not, this will still be a good match to check out.
COLONEL
1. #1 Contender for Colonel X-Force Championship
Tito Ortiz v. Eric The Torture (Cage-docs)
Winner: Eric The Torture
Notes: It must not have felt that great for Eric when Malcriado Beast slammed him through a table on Combat this week to clinch the Colonel Table Tournament. Tonight, Eric will get his second and last chance to appear at NeXuS. He will face off against Tito Ortiz inside a steel cage for the #1 contendership for the Colonel X-Force Championship. Happy trails...
2. Non-Title Match
Euroman v. Lunchtime Legend (Ladder-docs)
Winner: Euroman
Notes: Double L is nearing a promotion to the General Division but he's going to take care of some last minute business when he takes on the Colonel Champion, Euroman, in a ladder match tonight. Euroman has a date with Malcriado Beast at NeXuS, but this match could soften him up for the very confident latin beast.
GENERAL
1. Slim Shady v. Pennylane (Cage-docs)
Winner: Pennylane
Notes: Pennylane is probably upset with himself over his TimeSplitters loss on Combat against Angelus, but he's going to have to shake it off to face Slim Shady in a cage tonight. Penny could be a viable contender for the General X-Force Championship at NeXuS, and Slim could also make a great case. Maybe the winner of this one will get himself into a contender match next week.
2. TimeSplitters
StrikerLT v. Gnarfflinger (Single-docs)
Winner: StrikerLT in 34 moves
Notes: StrikerLT is doing double-duty tonight in TimeSplitters, and that could spell trouble for him. First, he has to face Gnarfflinger in his 2nd Tournament match. Directly after the match, General Champion Kelly Duncan will pay a visit to the ring.
3. Non-Title TimeSplitters
ValKyrie KD v. StrikerLT (Single-docs)
Winner: ValKyrie KD in 36 moves
Notes: StrikerLT better hope he can finish off Gnarfflinger quickly because Kelly will be waiting in the wings for him regardless. If Striker can put up two great scores in these two matches, he could clinch himself a General Championship match with Kelly at NeXuS.
TAG TEAM
1. Wednesdayboy/Ashton Saint v. JH777/Zeph Calder (docs)
Winner: JH777/Zeph Calder via default
Notes: I promised new tag teams tonight on Mayhem, and I'm going to deliver. Wednesdayboy will team up with Ashton Saint to take on the duo of Zeph Calder and the Interim Hardcore Champion, JH777. Will one of these teams mesh well together and become a force in the Bronze Tag Division?
2. Supreme Soldiers v. Lyoto Matchida/Random (docs)
Winner: Supreme Soldiers
Notes: Supreme Soldiers debut against the brand new team of Lyoto Matchida and Random. With little known about what these two pairs can do as a team, we're all in for a mystery tonight.
3. Spike Flynn/Sick Nick Mondo v. Armageddon (docs)
Winner: Armageddon via default
Notes: In the final brand new Bronze Division tag matchup, Spike Flynn joins Sick Nick Mondo as a team to face Black Dead and War Machine. Out of the six new Bronze teams that debut tonight, hopefully one can give new Champions, Hood Charisma, a run for their money.
4. Non-Title Match
FsN and MB v. Hells Advocates (docs)
Winner: FsN and MB
Notes: FsN and MB are the new Silver Tag Team Champions and they will be defending their titles for the first time at NeXuS against former Bronze Tag Champs, Master and Legend. Tonight, however, the Champs have a little work to do when they go up against Hells Advocates, who are looking to make their mark. Are FsN and MB transitional champs, or are they the real deal?
