Friday Night Mayhem (7/24/09): Summertime Blues
HARDCORE
1. Dark Match
Jake The Muss v. GeorgesStPierre (Cage-docs)
No Contest
Notes: Jake The Muss may have lost his debut match last week, but he is determined to to show that he can be the most dominant Superstar in the Hardcore Division. Tonight, he faces cage-master, GeorgesStPierre, in Mayhem's dark match.
LIEUTENANT
1. Early Bird Round Robin
Spike Flynn v. War Machine (docs)
Winner: War Machine
Notes: Spike Flynn and War Machine will clash in an Early Bird Round Robin match tonight. War Machine has his sights set at Bronze Tag Gold and a Lieutenant Championship this month, so he better not get ahead of himself. Later on tonight, he'll definitely have his hands full. The Superstar who raises this challenge first gets to choose the match type.
2. Non-Title Match
Stevie Rock v. Lethal Leigh Brown (Single-docs)
Winner: Stevie Rock
Notes: Stevie Rock showed why he is the Lieutenant X-Force Champion at Red, White and Bruised this past weekend in a huge victory over War Machine. Now he gets a friendly one-on-one date with LLB, who means all business after having lost two in a row.
CAPTAIN
1. Early Bird Round Robin
Rock II v. Martin Prince (docs)
Winner: Rock II
Notes: Martin Prince couldn't muster a challenge for Essa Rios at RWB in Australia, and he did exactly what we all expected him to do: let down his home fans and family. Tonight, he'll begin EBRR action with Rock II, and the first one of them to enter the ring will get to select the match type.
2. Non-Title Match
ForSakeN v. The Master (Ladder-docs)
Winner: The Master
Notes: ForSakeN is back to tip-top shape once again, and it's going to take an enormous effort to dethrone him from atop the Captain Division. He's on a tear lately, and I can't even remember the last time he lost a match. The Master, Billy Styles, is going to have a long night.
COLONEL
1. Early Bird Round Robin
Ben Wallace v. Malcriado Beast (docs)
Winner: Malcriado Beast via no-show
Notes: Malcriado Beast kicks off his Tournament bid this month against Ben Wallace. MB couldn't take home the Silver Tag belts at the PPV on Sunday, but on Monday, he and his partner became the #1 contenders once again. As long as no one steps in their way before August 23rd, they might be able to get retribution on the Champs. Tonight, MB will have to focus on his singles career, however, and if he can get to the ring first, he'll have the advantage of picking the match type.
2. Non-Title Match
Dyna Mike Duncan v. Euroman (Single-docs)
Winner: Dyna Mike Duncan
Notes: Besides being distracted with family issues in Australia, DMD did was he always does, and that's taking care of business in the ring. DMD became the Colonel X-Force Champion on Sunday, and now he faces Euroman in a non-title match tonight. Now if only the side-show drama with Johnny Detroit would go away....
GENERAL
1. Enduro Tournament
Eric The Torture v. Luther (Single-docs)
Winner: Eric The Torture
Notes: Eric The Torture and Luther will be missing a third Superstar in this Enduro match tonight, but that's good news for both since neither of them will be eliminated from the Tournament if he loses tonight. So, Eric...err...The Dungeon Master Champion...will look for a successful debut in the General Division in this one.
2. Non-Title Match
ValKyrie KD v. Big Daddy (Ladder-docs)
Winner: ValKyrie KD via no show
Notes: Kelly Duncan has dodged a bullet or two, no pun intended, in Australia after being arrested for attempted murder of her former beau. She has made a plea deal to get her back in the ring, and more importantly, out of Kangaroo-land. If she can somehow compartamentalize her issues, she should be ok to fight Big Daddy tonight in a ladder match. Afterall, she is still the General Champion after a very successful Red, White and Bruised.
3. Non-Title Match
Big Closet v. Gnarfflinger (Single-docs)
Winner: Big Closet
Notes: Big Closet did what many in GHW thought was impossible: he became the General X-Force Champion at RWB. After a highly improbable Battle Royal victory in which he became #1 contender, he went to Australia to face the former Champion, Angelus. No one believed he could pull off two big wins in a row, but he did just that. Now Sergei Kravinoff is calling him a fluke and wants the first shot at him. How will Big Closet respond, and will he be a winning Champion? Gnarff will try to stop that.
TAG TEAM
1. Non-Title Match
The Battalion v. Master and Legend (docs)
Winner: The Battalion
Notes: The Battalion were victorious at RWB, but I'd call it more of a fluky win. After Combat, they've discovered that FsN and MB will get a rematch with them if no other Silver Team steps up. Tonight, the "champs" take on Master and Legend, who I believe will bring a reality check to them.
2. Non-Title Handicap Match
War Machine v. Iron Titans (docs)
Winner: War Machine
Notes: War Machine has bit off more than he can chew, but maybe he'll surprise us all when he takes on the Bronze Tag Team Champions all by himself tonight. After a meeting with me in my office, War Machine has blamed his tag partner, Black Dead, for their loss at RWB. I would like to hear what the whipping boy has to say about that and whether the two will ever tag with each other again. Afterall, if War Machine ever wants the Bronze Tag Titles, he's going to need a partner.
